Remember that the Extreme APA stated that at least 50% of the people will be retained? Well that also means that up to 49% probably won't be. It's happening now - this week.

Extreme have no clue how Avaya runs its networking business.. They don't know who does the ground work and gets the business.. The sales guy know zilch about networking, while the SEs are the eye and feet on the ground.
in some markets extreme have poor perception while Avaya and brocade are considered very highly.
Yet when they took people they prioritze sales over pre sales. leads me to believe that somebody has thrown a huge spanner in the works of this deal...
It's a shame considering how awesome and distinct the Avaya networking solution was compared to 99% of the market
Has anyone been informed by managers if extreme is rolling out an offer - also has any one recieved an offer yet - what about home office is that a valid option
it will be pure math from Extreme to Networking GM MR, you pull in 200M revenue, you get XX people, make it work (I am sure they will want 150K per employee so do the math). It will then filter down and each managers buddies/entourage will stay others wont. They will pull some into Extreme central (couple of marketing, a standards guy etc.) but it wont be big. Does anyone know how Sales will be split up, SEs will be easy but most Salesmen will want to stay with Avaya I suspect.
networking already has a very lean operations they cannot drop anyone......
ppl who are part of networking group, whether they are offered by extreme or not, don't get the opt-in of joining avaya for the next 1 year.
Many functions performed networking related work as a part of their overall work in many cases work done for networking was 40% or less such ppl based on what i heard will continue to be with Avaya - Now of the ones that did 80% or more of networking work are the ones who might get / may have got extreme offer
Well I know some people that are staying so the last comment is not strictly true
Ppl whom aren't offered by extreme, cannot join avaya, from networking side. Not sure if there is packages for such ppl.
At least in the USA and Canada, normally when a company in bankruptcy protection lays people off, no severance is paid. The ex-employee has a claim to make against the company and their unsecured claim is handled with all others. If the company goes under, they might get some money from the estate (if any is left over after secured creditors are paid) or if the company emerges from bankruptcy, the payment of creditors is negotiated. Since it's probably that no one is representing the interests of the ex-employees, they are often not included in any settlement of accounts.
People who were put in this situation when Nortel sank are just about to receive a portion of their severance now but that was an unusually long period. It was also unusual in that the judges agreed that the unsecured creditors (including ex-employees) should get some payment at the expense of bond holders.
It is very authentic. Many people in the Networking business have already been told if they are going to Extreme or not. Not clear if those who have been told they are not will be given permanent positions with Avaya or if they will be laid off at a later date and given packages. I suspect that people will be given an opportunity to find employment within Avaya, but there aren't many positions available and it's likely that there will be even fewer before the bankruptcy concludes. Sadly, this week will end very poorly for many people.
Not really
Not sure how authentic but i just heard that managers have been informed and they need to let the ppl know if they are in or out by friday close of business
Here's hoping this all gets worked out soon, I remember the stress from the last time waiting for Avaya letters (when/if/whats in it).
Has anyone heard if the severance is paid out to those that dont make it or are they a creditor in the bankruptcy.
Did any one get the offer yet
The APA also said that offer letters had to be delivered no less than 30 days prior to close, which is currently targeting July 1... so that means today is the deadline.
