@azin I am curious if they are trying to save money how exactly will it work. The lead of Footwear is moving to another department on sales she loses her title, but still gets full time. My question is will Footwear hours lower now that their is no lead? I asked her and according to her 5 hours will for sure be deducted for the whole MOD procedure.
It does not matter if your store is profitable or not. It is the new restructuring of SHC. Most ASM's will be let go and there will be associates who will be "leads" without the pay. SM's will either be cut or will have to manage multiple stores. Backroom will be only receiving and MCC. Electronics will be handled by the mattress department and commissions will be cut on a sliding scale over the next year.
Just like ASM's went from salaried to hourly most everyone will now be hourly with 25-30 hours max each week. Nothing to do with profits, EBITDA or anything else it is to save cost. SHC is out of money.
This is legit I finally got word 2 Leads were cut Footwear MCA and Softlines MCA position eliminated. This is sad I wonder if thats it or if theirs more cuts coming later on this month.
What are the cuts I know of only soft line leads

Cuts will come for the remainder of the month. SM, ASM, OP's and market leaders will be cut. Many positions combined, SM in charge of multiple store and associates opening and closing stores. Get ready it's coming
The cuts have happened this past week for Sears not sure about Kmart but pretty sure it's not over.
When you have assistants who only hang out in office or break room and floor supervisors that work harder then guess it's time to cut ...

they are keeping a few merch ops to work multiple stores like they did the apps but all the rest are getting cut, less than 20 are staying for the entire company.
Is this happening at Kmart also? I am Ops ASM in a Top 50 store considered profitable.
This is happening at our store also and we are considered "profitable". Losing OPs ASM, leads and brand central ASM. Some will be missed others will not. Was told it was a corporate decision on who was let go not at the store level. Still not a comforting thought that you have a job because any one of us could be next...
Did anyone hear about any cuts ??

2viu- This exact thing already happens in Kmarts. Most of the programs start in Kmart and then go to the Sears side. Our store manager has managed two stores for over a year
So how many top executives are losing their jobs or taking huge cuts to their salaries, bonuses and other perks???? Of course not ... so its only the people doing the work that are getting hit while the do nothings at the top continue to cash in until the leaking ship sinks. At least this guy owns a lot of shares in the company, but the general profile of the problem we have in many of our remaining businesses/industries is the top heavy upper management that don't actually own the company via stock ownership taking huge salaries and bonuses while they contribute nothing to actually running the business. But sorry to hear what people are going through.
Hmmmm...our store manager "volunteered" to help out at another store which allegedly lost their store manager. Mind you the other store that the SM is filling in at is over 100 miles away.
I wonder if our SM is participating in a pilot program where there is one SM for every two stores. If they split SMs between stores, other cuts WILL follow.
If this is true, my prediction is that it will probably be so drastic that two to four associates will be responsible for the entire store and all of its departments. One minute you're selling a fridge and the next minute you are ringing up a pair of shoes, after that you are taking turns unloading freight. Due to a lack of management, regular associates will become "keyholders" and given CSM override powers.
Not sure. I'm in a top 100 Sears. We're losing 4 managers/leads this time. We will only have 4 left now...
Is this going to affect Sears and Kmart stores everywhere or just certain under performing stores?
Was left go the last cut at Kmart..Still have friends at Kmart so is this just the sears side or both?
@yoj- That would be interesting. My store only has a store manager and two leads. Can't imagine not having that one salaried manager here at least 5 days a week!
Interesting as I would have thought that meant international buying office meaning our overseas offices.

I love how during all of these in-store cuts they continue to tell us we have to be "brand ambassadors" and such. How are we supposed to "return to profitability" when we are cutting stores associates, managers, and hours to the bone?
At this point, restructuring is useless. These cuts that have been made or will be making is their sad attempt of saving money. Sales and revenue are plummeting faster than their cost cutting
Good riddance to the electronics associates. They got paid $10.50 to stand around doing nothing but watch TV and play with their phones all day while the backroom teams break their backs and sweat it out on trucks making minimum wage.
For the last IBO, in February I think, we lost our Operations ASM and our HW and BC ASM position was combined into just a HL ASM instead. We also lost cashier lead and footwear lead. That left us with just the one ASM, store manager, 3 SL leads, and a backroom lead. This time we're just losing one of the SL leads. They're also doing away with CE associates...electronics will now be taken care of by appliance sales people. Dor reference, we are still a positive EBITDA store. Busy every day usually.

So of what it seems is that their is going to be more cuts this summer? I can already see one of my manager being cut. I was very surprised they didn't cut any in the start of this year, but if this is for reals they are cutting one. Its going to be sad. If anyone they should cut is the store manager in my store he is useless the other ones aren't they are actually useful. If that happens I can already see chaos left and right they already have a hard time closing one less its just going to be horrible.
Joking aside right now there are good people losing jobs and means to provide for families. Horrible feeling although when I got whacked a few months ago it was honestly a relief. Took some time off and thankfully found a great job with a super company that actually puts people first.

Well my store will be hit then. We didn't lose and or our managers. We still have our hardliner and softlines 2 softlines leads and 1 hardlines lead
Our store makes no money. No real electronics department anymore. We are getting flooded with pools. Spool many pools they won't sell. We have bays filled floor to ceiling with shoes plus the room for shoes is full. Prices are higher because of the inventory blowout sale. They thought it would be like Chicago but we only made a profit 1 day so far. I don't see this store lasting much longer. This will be the 3rd store I have closed.
"A Store" and "B Store" designations do not mean anything any more. Top 75 and (now even less) Top 200 store designations are the only designations that alter how a store is treated. Sales volume is the measuring stick for the IBO changes. If you already took a big hit in the previous round and downgraded to Zone Supervisors, you probably won't be touched. The mid volume stores ($10 mil - $20 mil) are the ones that have to be worried this time around.
Any idea when the cuts are taking effect?
Seems to me the store needs only 2 employees on to be the cashier and the there to observe it the cashier is stealing money. There will be no new inventory to attempt to sell in the future.
Any idea or gueas of what we will lose due to IBO? There is not much left to cut.
For management, besides the store manager, our store has a hardlines zone supervisor, a softlines zone supervisor and a backroom lead.
We have no dedicated softlines MCAs or cashiers--everyone there is "softlines support". In hardlines, there is one part-time MCA.
Our store no longer has a dedicated CE department. In fact, CE is nothing more than a few shelves with phone chargers, headphones and cheap radios. Mattresses are handled by the appliance department.
We are a B store and are in a company-owned building (not leased).
Thanks for the posts, children. For the adults, it means Ideal Business Organization. They're changing the store structures again based on sales volume. Your Store Manager was already made aware and will be contacting the affected parties shortly.
