Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Salary hike or Layoffs in India

What should we expect? Salary hike or layoffs. We have not yet received anticipated salary hike letters in India. Why so much delay? This is not business as usual. Do you have any clue? Please update....

Look like you are either uninformed or misinformed

Today myself and few of my colleagues already received increment letters

There is no news about increment yet. Those bragging about their double digit hikes are managers trying to appease people as this website is quite popular among the teams.

And it is common sense that even though Avaya India Pvt Ltd is not bankrupt, there will be no Avaya India Pvt Ltd without Avaya Inc. Ask people in Bangalore to understand what happens when a company goes through chapter 7.

And this will not be the first time below market or below inflation hike might be given off. This has happened in the past too. Some people left, many stayed. Talent is always replaceable in India, especially given the fact that Avaya doesn't have/need the best talent anyways. Many of the engineering teams have outsourced contractors from Wipro and HCL for quite a few years now. These companies are just waiting to take over more work.

Everyone should fight for their bonus and increment as what the executives asked for their bonus. Pity those that stay and still committed without getting theirs. Pathetic management, pathetic company.

No, it's not business as usual, you idiot. Avaya India is not an independent company, of course they are affected by the bankruptcy. You can't be so dense as to think the company will start paying anyone more money while they are in a fight to try and stay in business. This is the time for anyone still around and who can earn more money elsewhere to go get that job elsewhere. The people left behind will be able to pick up your work or outsource it somewhere else, don't worry.

Unbelievable, there will be no salaray hikes! Stop this BS discussion and go to work. Avaya moved their IT to india to save costs. Any salary hike will give them reasons to insource again and have a better quality. If you are not satisfied, move

It should be at least 25% hike for HRC's. After all we achieved HRC in such a frustrating environment.

WE NEED SALARY HIKE. THATS IT.... OR ELSE TECHIES HAVE LOTS OF OPTIONS IN PUNE AND BANGALORE. ONLY MANAGERS WOULD REMAIN TO MANAGE THEMSELVES AND TO MANAGE THE NEW FRESHER CANDIDATES. THE BEST BREED OF ENGINEERS HAVE ALREADY LEFT AND FEW REMAINING GOOD ONES WOULD LEAVE SOON. IF YOU WANNA RETAIN THE REMAINING FEW GOOD EXPERIENCED ENGINEERS, GIVE THEM THE HIKE THEY DESERVE. STOP GIVING HIKE TO MANAGERS BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE AND EVEN IF THEY FIND SOMETHING WHICH IS VERY VERY UNLIKELY ITS NOT GOING TO IMPACT ANYTHING.

Having had some experience over several years, I would shutdown all operations in India

The only reason Avaya is in India is because its cheap

In better days we wouldn't put up with the this BS, YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE A JOB.

So stop talking about pay hikes and start thinking about the rest of our company.

Our director has indicated the possibility of no hike this year.

Still no news about layoffs. They'll probably wait for some people to leave and do a round of layoffs in September.

Everybody knows the PMP process is BS and doesn't matter. The managers rank the employees in each group and the bottom 10% are FMP. The top rated get a piece get so called bonus pool, the others get to keep their jobs.

Extreme already has an R&D office in Chennai (original Extreme), and more recently Bangalore (from Zebra WLAN). They will likely seek facility consolidation. Not sure how spread out the Networking Business employees are in India, but consolidation into a single location, or near an Extreme location is likely the best outcome for those affected by the Networking business sale.

I agree this mad is sleeping ha ha.

At one end Kevin is not leaving millions in bonus and from that level until our first line managers are all hungry to take out maximum possible as all are gealous with Kevin, then why should we not.

We shouldn't care if US employees are fired or company shuts down. We are working and should be paid accordingly.

Dear,

Company is not in good times. Our company has fed all of us or rewarded us for several year. looks like sombody tought you that you come to office for only pay check. People like Kevin Kennedy should also follow below.

Do following:

  1. Propose to not take pay hike until company is out of chapter 7. Persuade all by a internal campaign. Some can't but some can like me but I want India director to start campain, he being the first acceptor. You know "Leaders eat last and takes first hit proactively".

  2. Propose to voluntary work on alternate saturdays. I have started.

  3. Propose Seniors 15+ to lose one month salary so that our colleagues in US/other countries are not asked to leave. Afterall you are here because of them.

  4. Prepare and work hard to reduce maintenance cost of company by imroving quality manyfold.

  5. Propose names to fire those employees who are running politics and have let our company close products, lose good employees, delivered compromised quality, their deliverables are neither catching issues nor improving quality, destroyed good environment, have not been promoted on merits, performing poor after holding key positions, as such people are always protected due to mutual interest of providing good feedback for each other.
