It's official. The networking business is being sold to Extreme. Finally, we will be out from under the insanity known as Avaya. Good-bye to the corrupt, ineffective leadership that has driven Avaya into the ground. I can only hope that you are ruthlessly eliminated as you have done to so many loyal employees. Best of luck to the people who will remain with Avaya.

I wonder if you transitioned across?
I assume the Billerica office is being closed? Was there more than a handful that weren't networking?
Stupid statement of the year 30 miles Boston to Salem
Plus, they are moving all the Boston area workers to their Salem NH facility, to reduce cost. Not exactly a one-to-one commute for the majority of the employees moving over. That may be a deal-breaker for many.
Their benefits aren't all that great ... they have a 2.5% 401K match, but only up to $250. Not really a great deal there at all. Granted, Avaya only matched when they made their numbers, but it was still a decent match initially.

That was announced over 2 months ago. For 100 whole million dollars wow! I made more than that in overtime in 2016! Good deal silver lake!
"At least that is over now the waiting for offer letters and worrying about what the terms will be. Went through that for the Avaya acquisition. We had to sign non-compete clauses, got screwed out of some holidays and had to sell ourselves all over again.
We will find out soon if Extreme wanted the technology or the customers."
Extreme wants the customers. They'll only keep the technology long enough to placate the fears of the current Avaya/Nortel install base. Some features may get migrated into XOS (Extreme Operation System), but the Avaya technology lines will die a slow death. My guess is Extreme will want the sales relationships primarily, then customer facing services, then a skeleton crew for R&D which will probably be mostly out of India. The remaining back office staff likely won't even make the jump over. Basically, they will repeat what they did to Enterasys during their 2013 acquisition. Same idea with overlapping product sets. They made their intentions known then that the XOS Summit series was where the R&D was going and the Enterasys lines would get maintenance releases for a few years and then go end of sale. They did keep the Enterasys wireless and software platforms, but that was such a small piece of Enterasys sales. The only difference is they won't delay on the Reductions in Force this time (first big RIF was May 2015 - 18 months after closing). After closing on Avaya's Networking, they will probably let go some core Extreme people to make room (aka keep margins in line) just like they did when the Zebra wireless acquisition closed. Extreme's playbook is fairly easy to see by now...
I think the purchase agreement said something about employment with Extreme would be at basically the same compensation as with Avaya. I suspect they will initially transfer people over at the same rate and basically the same job, but it will probably change based on the position you actually end up with. Since Avaya doesn't have a vacation policy in the US, there shouldn't be any loss vacation time. I think Extreme gives 15 days vacation up to 5 years and then 20 days after 5 years of service. From what I've read, their benefits are a bit better than Avaya: matching 401K, employee stock purchase plan, and a couple of other perks that Avaya doesn't have.

I have seen "the list"... and you're not on it. Now stop worrying and go get a job.
If you don't get an offer letter the first 10 days of June, you'll be getting the notice of lay off on the 11th
It's not official for employees until they receive their offer letter from Extreme. According to the terms of the sale, the offers have to be distributed "no later than 30 days prior to close", which is approx. within the first week of July.
So, if you do not receive an offer letter within the first 10 days of June, you're not part of the sale.
When is the transition scheduled- will the offer be as compelling as current avaya compensation
