Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Why is there nothing mentioned in the media?

I find it strange, after so many jobs being cut, that there is hardly anything mentioned in news/papers/social media. I only found 1 article in a UK paper, nothing else.

as analyst on Wallstreet predicted - when the merger between CSC and HPE was mentioned a total of 55000 to 60000 jobs being cut over the first years, as I see now they might be true. So a major job massacre... still nothing to be found in any kind of paper?

or am I seeing it wrong?

Not familiar with how things work in EMEA regarding "shareholders" announcement on spin merge. In US, we received the shareholder specs shortly after the merge. In there it clearly outlined various line items on cost savings targets. One notably labeled as "staff optimization" with targeted $$ savings with timeline. In a nutshell, the end target is $1.1 billion savings in "staff optimization" - aka WFR and do your math how many people will be "optimized" or "reduced"...

There is nothing in the media because there is (officially) no mass layoff program in place nor executed. There is no case of layoff I have heard about in Eastern and Central Region of EMEA since Nov 2016. Some of my colleagues could not stand the current hopeless situation and have quit their jobs a few weeks ago. They got absolutely no severance pay. HR told them that there is currently no permission from the corporation for such kind of payouts and there is currently no layoff program in place or planned. (Nevertheless other HPE colleagues got severances payments before DXC was started in 2016.) Currently it seems that management is busy by itself and maybe that’s the silence before the storm. But we will read it - if anything goes on - for sure also in the media.

Mass layoffs in IT services? Business as usual. Nothing newsworthy to report. Old news. Nobody cares.

Of course not, as this has been happening for years. It's nothing new. Plus, there is no union to voice employees concerns. All I see here at the moment is one off employees discussing WFR emails and their way out! :)

I agree; as far as I know, major plans to cut jobs were always published (by HP, don't know about CSC). They explained how many jobs, what they were trying to achieve, and usually a time frame too. It's important information for shareholders, I guess. In this case I don't see any publications at all.

Why should this all be reported in the media. We might not like it but the reality is 2 orgs have come together so of course there are going to be many job cuts.
