"Optimization for Sustainable Transformation". What a sad pathetic joke. So they study for 12 months, then they cut, then cut 12 months later in 2016, and now they're cutting again this year. Does this seem like a "sustainable transformation" to anyone? Who is accountable for this incompetence?

Thank you for the response. Yes seriously asking the question. New organization, new initiatives. No good reason not to learn from the mistakes of others.

Cultivating Obtructionist and Secretive Teams

If you are seriously asking the question, then:

ConocoPhillips Optimization for Sustainable Transformation

Pretty standard consultant-led business process streamlining effort. It also suffered from pretty standard execution failures. They had some great ideas, but ultimately may have peaked a little to early in the cycle. Middle management (SGL 19-25) didn't appreciate the help... and pushed back. They did not reduce enough staff or really change our approach to the business enough to make a difference. So, they quit trying, stopped using the COST accronym, and then we started the Doing Business Better campaign, without consultants.
