Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Your thoughts are important too !!!!!

Am I the only one feeling the stress ? It's hard to stay positive about this company when everyday I'm unsure if the company will survive. It's hard not to read outside news when they give you more information about the company you work for than your own C.E.O. does. You hear about the longest and most quiet liquidation in history and his actions support those sayings. He quietly closes stores I'm guessing so shares wouldn't tank overnight and he need to hold on until this July 10th date I read. If that is his end game and I don't have other employment like many others then we are the ones left holding the bag. It's hard to miss work for a interview when you really need the money, but at the same time you're trying to look for better. So some of do strive for better while still being stuck between a rock and a hard place.

If store managers were more upfront with what is going on this would help somewhat. I don't think they realize the struggle some of us have with cut hours and the added stress we face. When you are salaried and making 40,000 to 100,000 a year plus bonuses (asms and store managers) reality for hourly and salaried is different. Put yourself in our shoes for a moment and realize we shouldn't have to pretend everything is OK. Your check stays the same every time you get paid but that isn't the case for us and his causes stress. If you took the time to talk to us and you will be surprised at what we really think about things.

Even if it is July 10, 2017 or somewhere around that date, it doesn't necessarily mean you are out of a job right away either. As a previous poster said, you would be entitled to unemployment in any case and a bankruptcy protection court order is often required to keep the business GOING so key vendors can get paid while the business is wound down. It could most likely be many weeks or months before you are ultimately let go post bankruptcy filing.

Yes, you could be competing with more people for a job down the road but right now there are so many announced closures in the retail space that it is really hard to time. Stay positive and don't assume any given date in July day you will be handed a pink slip.

learn to pick & choose your interviews to minimize the time off - try to schedule 2 a day morn / afternoon at a minimum - hone your interview skills with friend(s) and not with BS q&a's - constantly re-evaluate what you did on interview process - above all AT LEAST be familiar with what the company your interviewing with does business wise - the worst thing is to have an interviewee that doesn't even know what the company does

OP you should be looking else where, either way you should be entitle to unemployment. Don't let this stress you out I doubt Sears will close on July 10, 2017, but something big is going to happen (probably more stores closing etc) I think they will want to try to milk it until this xmas and call it quits.

Some of us are feel stressed some of us don't care. Best to not let the stress get to you OP its just overall bad for your health relax and just look around as mentioned letting the job stress you will do you no good.
