You younger people don't remember the golden years. Every new process generation would result in excitement around next generation chips. Fabs would ramp and they couldn't make enough and business boomed, new fabs built and stock doubled. These days new generation is a big yawn, process ramps delayed. Is anything going well anymore?
Too bad Intel gave up on phones and mobile. Wasted billions and billions and gave up.. what might have been...

I remember the golden years before the Internet when I didn't get to read useless crap like this post.
The monopoly years especially during PO and BK's time created a whole generation of Intel folks who are promoted not based on technical/management/sales knowledge but based on who you buddy up to, who you go drink with, who you go cycling with, and on some cases who you go holiday with (yes, there are some who move up the ladder pretty fast by going holiday with higher up's family). Too many examples, just look around you. Majority in Asea sites move up by buddying up with corporate folks, and taking these corporate folks to go drinking, partying, nite-clubs whenever these corporate folks goes to that part of the world. Intel today may still be a multi billion revenue company due to non existent competition on x86 and the world being tied in to x86, but Intel today is a big joke!
And they also got rid of the expertise in this area which may have been their answer to already knowing that new generations we're not coming do no need for that experience.
