I have been here for almost 15 years now, this round of cuts is going to be a bloodbath and once again the wrong people are going to be let go.

I do love when butthurt management chimes in. Obviously they're realizing that their excrement does stink and everyone around them can smell it and see the drove of flies following them. sorry your feels are hurt UM, but you're just as if not moreso
complicit in this mess. go back to your online shopping and hobknobbing with one another. useless fools. just remember at this rate when it's your time to be shown the door that parachute just might have a ton of holes in it from all the dividends we've paid out.
Absolutely agree with the poster regarding our top heavy structure. Do we have any idea how much time and effort is wasted getting our executive layers to decide on anything? Moreover, because of those layers we execute at a snails pace. It's ludicrous that such be labored decision making is allowed to exist and for so long. For crying out loud, make a informed expeditious decision for a change, get out of the way and allow us to execute!

Thank you OP, it's a relief to hear from a credible source that layoffs are over a month away. That's the best news out of Mattel in a long time! Next, please tell us how our stock will turn around.
to the last poster, easy solution, fire all the very highly paid, do nothing useless Sr.Managers, Directors, VP's, SVP's & EVP's......cut all boondoggle trips to HK by using video conference but this makes too much sense so it will never happen.
This place is so top heavy it isn't funny but so readily apparent.
To the original poster:
Dear Mr. Ostrich:
As you and your fellow birds of a feather bury your heads in the sand, let me point out the facts without insult or aggression (I'll dig a hole next to your head so you can read this underground) -
1) Mattel did not make their plan in 2016 because it is impossible for them to make up for the loss of profit that Disney Princesses, Frozen and Monster High provided. Barbie continues to decline even though it's running twice as much advertising simply to slow the decline.
2) Mattel's entire profit structure is predicated on fashion dolls - all other brands make half the profit margin. So for every dollar of profit that the company loses from fashion dolls it has to double the amount of sales from all other brands. Impossible.
3) WallStreet only wants growth - it does not care about the circumstances. Since there is no plan and no evidence that anything is happening other than declining, the stock price sinks.
Without a plan for profit, the company has not other recourse except to cut costs. This means cuts in budgets (which we all have our "tasks"), shutdowns of ancillary offices and cuts in staff.
If you have a math equation that differs from this, please share. The company needs your brilliance.
Haha! The sun will also burn out in >30 days. Oh no!
OP: >30 days means in more than 30 days. I think you mean less than (within) 30 days so you should have used <30 days.
This shows you must be some artsy hack or MBA know-nothing.
Mattel is having a hard enough time retaining and recruiting talent at the moment, forget about having to orchestrate a "bloodbath" layoff. As someone mentioned below, executives have given assurances that no layoffs are coming. Reneging on this promise would be a disaster.
the narcissists in charge want to see if there are any veiled mentions of themselves on the site. losers.
D. management is now replying to posts on this site.
Original poster is simply a vendictive a--hole trying to stir up unrest so that others are as unhappy as they are. Misery...company...etc...
As this will simply feed the trolls, we should expect either:
A) an insult implying those with a positive perspective are merely part of management or a-- kissers
B) doubling down: assurance of insider information and that they are simply being noble. Posing as a player trusted by management but really fighting for the people...such sacrifice
C) basic insults
Place your bets
This is BS, in recent months company leadership has gone out of their way, time and time again, to stress that their will NOT be any layoffs in the foreseeable future. This was stated by CS himself before he left and has since been reiterated several times by the Aussie JC and more recently by the new CEO herself.
100% true
Nothing more to add
