Thread regarding Sears layoffs

We should close on Sunday...

Great way to save $$$. It's the slowest day of the week.

If only. It might be my only shot for a day off. I've worked sixteen days straight. I am the ONLY other associate in the HA department. One quit unexpectedly, another left after giving her two weeks, and the other two are in school and don't work enough hours for it to matter here. So I'm standing around, eight hours a day for sixteen days. I don't want or need the hours.

I've had two customers all day. One for a 14-pc screwdriver set and one for a low-end dishwasher for a rental. There wasn't a soul in sight for almost the entire day. Woo-hoo!

I used to love working Sundays. Store was open 12-5 and you got paid time and a half. I was a student and working my way through college, usually 20 hrs/week, and that Sunday pay felt like a little bonus. Same deal on most holidays.

I was in automotive and it tended to be pretty dead except if it was cold enough to kill batteries. But the rest of the store was busy enough to justify being open. I imagine that's not really true anymore

Plot twist: sears already opens 12-6 on Sunday..

Back when I worked there I remember sundays were extremely hit or miss. Some Sunday we would be busy till I left. Other times I would talk to one or two people.

They won't close on thanksgiving or Easter, what makes you think they will close on Sunday! LOL perhaps limiting hours would be better, maybe 12 noon- 6pm?
