Impact of "Gender Equality" on SLB

I'm curious about "gender equality" at SLB. Do you guys think bringing a lot of women makes SLB a better company? For example, since SLB is a service company then I guess many of you are field engineers who have to go to the fields frequently and I hardly think that women are comfortable with that kind of work.

The western narrative about diversity at work is laughable, they treat gender balance as a goal, while the true objective of promoting diversity is to let anyone climb up the career ladder based on their own capability and regardless of gender.

Now you know one of reasons why SLB is heading south: gender over performance, the push for Gender Equality which in practice becomes Gender Priority. One thing I've noticed among women colleagues at work is that the incompetent ones usually use that buzzword as a way to get preferential treatment and promotion whereas the competent ones don't give a sh*t, work hard, show their capability and get what they deserve.

One thing for sure is when you get pregnant then go on leave and come back, you will find yourself with a new position or a promotion.

I work in the software/consulting end of SLB where it's all office work. No problem with women. They are just as incompetent as the men.

I'm from an ASEAN region and as a fresher looking for a job in the industry, I can somehow feel the pinch of the industry preferring women for new recruits nowadays. Of all fellow Petroleum Engineering grads I know of, most of them who have already secured jobs at operator / service companies are women and I feel like we're elbowed aside as men since it's clearly not because they're more capable / qualified than us. Had any of you guys ever been in the same situation?

There is a lot of brainwashing now of young girls in highschool and college to pursue careers in engineering, regardless of whether or not they are truly suited for that. As a woman engineer myself with years of experience behind me, I would not encourage any girl or woman to pursue the path i have taken for a number of reasons. Women need to think long term of what they want their lives to become and what really makes them happy and fulfilled. Unfortunately, as another poster mentioned, decisions are often motivated by money.

@NhpdNek-1ifw not always the case, nowadays fresh grads care so much about starting salary so yeah, even if they don't necessarily like the job itself, they'll still apply to oil and gas including SLB anyway

the gender equality thing is fine. I work in TLM and from what I can see is that the women do their job fine. The problem is that they want something like 25% of the workforce to be women by a certain date, this is where it will get messy as they want the numbers just like with the dumb RIR and OI BS (Total Farce). they will just hire because they have a gash instead if them being good at their job.

Not a gender issue, the one who is not "comfortable with that kind of work", will not apply for "that kind of work". 'Nuff said.

As a Company man, I enjoyed that BJ Services employed women. Those were good days. I expect the Schlumberger women field engineers to do just as good BJ service.
