I worked at IBM full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

  1. Some smart people at the lower levels.

  2. Work from home option.

Cons

  1. Yearly layoffs for the last 15+ years.

  2. 1000's of US jobs moved to other countries for cost savings.

  3. No useful training.

  4. Upper management out of touch with day to day activities at lower levels.

  5. No value and respect for the employee.

  6. No respect for their customers.

  7. No innovation.

  8. If you think IBM is good place to work you have been fooled by them.

Advice to Management

You ruined what used to be a great company. Your customers are catching on to this and leaving. The last round of letting 1000+ contractors go with no notice will make your customers leave even faster. Most of these contractors were let go with a few hours notice and their work was not turned over to anyone. Good luck fixing this mess.

So, 1,000 people hired to repaint deck chairs were let go and no one else trained to take their jobs? Perhaps it's because they were working on the Titanic?
