Whatever usefulness this rumor board once had is lost in all the noise of complaints and HATE. Yes Mattel is screwed up. We get that. Are you rooting for us to fail? Take your energy elsewhere, all that hate & negativity is just NOISE. Go plant a tree or do yoga with that energy. No one person or comment or thread is going to sink or save Mattel. We're a huge company with big resources. Not folding any time soon. Not changing drastically any time soon. The best we can hope for is a slow turnaround. Yes, while the fat cats get richer. Just like everywhere else. Get over it. That won't change. Like it or not, Mattel is now a business, not a family, not a feel-good art commune. What does need to change is the climate and culture. Arrogance, desperation and fear reign supreme here throughout management. HR never helps the lower ranks. Only yes men survive and thrive. No one benefits from such a ridiculous arrangement. People at all levels, engage your brain and look for better answers, better ways. Don't just nod and agree to continue doing whatever got us lost in the first place. Work smart, help your boss, be proactive. Open your mind to offer and take suggestions. Take inventory regularly. Plan ahead. Watch your people's backs. Do the best you can with what you've got. Everything needs an overhaul, from the top down. It's the fastest way to a workable environment.

I come on here for only one reason - to make my small contribution to undermine the company and see it destroyed. It's simple.
I've worked for some vile people in this Industry and Mattel isn't really that bad.
And believe me there are some shady characters in this industry. If you're griping about the corporate structure = tough. It ain't a feel good operation s---er. Put on your big boy pants or hit the road jack. Fail or no fail what do you care? If you think it's a failure then leave. Please. I'm sure no ones handcuffed you to your desk.
Agreed with poster. And to the angry person responding, I personally come on here to see if there is any solid information about layoffs...because I like my job and I'd like to stick around. Believe it or not, there are people at Mattel who like it and are hoping to help. I hope things turn around for you too, pal.
if you find the rants so troubling then why do YOU come here? Shouldn't you be spending the last of your days at mattel trying to dream up the next big hit before they deem you useless and show YOU the door? or do you spend your days on your knees compensating for your lack of talent?
Not exactly the first responder I was hoping for, but a useful example of the vitriol which is spewed here regularly. I hope you are long gone and not still with the company. Wouldn't you rather spend your remaining days doing something more productive than thinking up your next rant? The rest of us would appreciate your cooperation to that end. Enjoy your day.
What a pile of sanctimonious crap. Mattel has already failed - you just won't admit it.....yet. The hate is justified and wishes of it's demise are also spot on. When an organization as corrupt and vile become so infected with bile, the only choice is to sell it off in chunks and make the most money for the investors. More importantly, it's incredibly naive of you to think working smarter is going to do anything - it won't. It's too late for that. And a slow turnaround is not only implausible for investors, it's impossible as the fundamental core of the company is based on an old and flawed business model. Mattel CAN'T change because the investors won't ever have the patience for it. Be real and face the abyss.
