Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Is things picking up

in general are things picking up orders getting placed etc?

I read a few month ago that 2019 will be business as usual with a $100 barrel, I guess work will be begin now in order to ready the rigs for drilling in 2019

Anyone seeing this yet?

War would be one reason to drive the barrel to $100?

Ok, sports fan the truth is not looking all that good. NOV is missing out on a lot work.

NOV is not going to survive another year like this. The first round of layoffs were the dross. The second was hard. The third round managers and supervisors laid off the best people to protect themselves from layoff, and kept the mediocre. Managers and Supervisors deserve what is coming to them.

Oil prices falling faster than Alice's britches. We can expect deeper cuts. Wag freezes. Layoffs and plant closures. Let's all go solar

I like the $2.19 gas, so let's hope that cleaner energy is used more and let the oil industry die. Everything must come to an end. Accept it. Houston with its high rates of cancer from all of the refineries there and BS pollution.

Sure. Place your bets on 2019 now.

In 2014-2015, would you have placed placed a bet on a prolonged crash two years in the future?

Take it one day at a time & don't plan on stability.

The only way to see $100 - it's in case Trump will shrink dollar to reduce national debt.

It's possible, and oil price can go up with cheaper dollar. Unfortunately, just $ nominal increase won't help to support industry, because prices will get up for everything.

That's nice to be positive in thinking that way, but you need to be realistic at the same time. W eed to see $60 a barrel for about 6 months before we start to see any real activity take place.

Have no ideas about 20, but 100 - I guess never again. Why? We expect global economy boom? No.

More likely - we should expect new global recession in 2018.
