I wasn't layed off last year, but the opaqueness, casting aside of long-time employees, stress levels of those remaining, and the inhumane way it went down caused me to finally leave Intel on my own terms. Anyone else choose to leave after the layoffs?

I got a job offer and turned it down as i didn't feel comfortable joining a smaller company. I prefer bigger companies with lot of engineering teams.
I have been there over ten years. I didn't leave yet but started my external search this week. I too was also disenchanted by the manner in which ACT was handled last year, the content expertise that was lost, the stress and low morale level of those remaining. Warren Buffet once shared the "right" way to perform necessary cuts/ restructuring and the "wrong" way. Unfortunately Intel's approach was the wrong way. The reductions and cuts are necessary but if the approach is wrong it can be fatal and/or can do irreparable damage with deep ripple effects. Sadly I am not sure how Intel's culture can recover from the approach to ACT and the impact that had on those remaining?

If you live in a high tech hub you are an idiot to stay. Sadly those in many places, like Oregon, are totally trapped. They have to uproot the family, sell the house and start over.

If you are young look around you still want to be trapped and regret you weren't brave enough to move to something better? Or you want to be in the waters with thousands others desperate for a job after ACT2.0.
Look at the TV commercials, the assolympic sponsor and things like billions spent on autonomous to build confidence your future is bright at Intel!
Yes. Accepted an offer 3 weeks ago. Just packed up my stuff. Feels good, man.
Yes. I'm among those who decided to leave after ACT as many others did in "old" Europe.

You're a nut for hanging on to real estate in Hilly. This industry is in decline and it will not end well. Bail while you still can.
@1ada - I still own a house here, and have hundreds of friends still "at the farm". But mostly its to anticipate whether there is going to be a flood of employees dumping their houses and depressing the housing market. I'd like to cash out and move somewhere else. I mentioned to my wife that we could sell our meh 4 BR house here, go back to my hometown, and buy two 4,000SF houses on acreage adjoining the town's country club ... yes, its true. Too bad she hates my hometown.
Hillsboro and WashCo is la-la land right now. Fancy libraries. New roads. Sports stadiums that city councils can just write a check for to build ... If Intel hits the skids, this place will look like Detroit in a few years. Genentech, Nike and SolarWorld aren't big enough to pick up the outsized impact that Intel has on the local economy.
If you guys left Intel, then why post or read this forum?
I left three years ago - mentally. I showed up in the office, did nothing, used the time to learn and interview. Still got "successful", so I was afraid I'll have to leave without a package, so asked my FLM for the VSP. He said he has no stakes in the decision and I shall think again, Intel is a great company etc. Second round of VSP finally put me on the list, I took the money the next second and the new job next month. Thank you Intel, may BK lead you forever.
On my way out now. Interviewing this month. Gonna take my pick.

Nah, I stay for the fruits and to enjoy the daily drama. If you screw your head around backwards and forget all the technicial stuff you know it is really like getting paid to watch the comedy channel.
I left years ago when it became apparent that PSO had no clue about mobile computing.
Looks like I was right and he was wrong.
How are those piano lessons going PSO?
Got promoted this year (was an RCG joined in 2015; had 2 EEs in both reviews.) I left in April and life has been awesome after that.
