Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears has another liability that has not been highlighted....

As of At January 28, 2017, subsidiaries of Holdings had approximately 140,000 employees in the United States and U.S. territories. This employee count includes part-time employees.

Let's assume that the AVERAGE TOTAL severance payout is $2500.

If SHC were to collapse, and we multiplied the reported number of employees * the AVERAGE TOTAL payout Sears would need to have on hand and / or access to $350 MILLION dollars

You can most likely kiss any severance adios if your not laid off very quickly !!

@4gnu

They will file whatever they need to in order for Eddie to get the biggest payout.

When (not if) SHC files chapter 7 there will be no severance pay. They will not file chapter 11 to reorganize, there will be nothing left.

It really is ok if we go a few days without a post. It's not necessary to post these fillers because you don't know what to say or there has been too much silence. I would really like it if this board didn't include these obvious posts that everyone already knows and that really don't require restating. Thanks

Sears isn't required to provide severance pay. If it all ends in bankruptcy, anyone left at the end gets nothing.

Because this is social media and people like to do that.

Why even go there? I think all associates know if Sears goes away, there won't be a severance payout. Then everyone would need to turn to unemployment compensation for as long as they could get it. I feel that sometimes people just post on here to try to stir the pot. And my question is why?
