In an area that relies on public transit a lot, there's probably quite a few of them who don't have any friends/relatives who could come pick them up - all either using public transit themselves, or can't leave their own job in the middle of a workday, or both. So if Sears doesn't still pay for cabs themselves (that was a classy way to handle it), a lot of the laid-off people would be stuck having to pay for a ride at a time when they'd obviously be wanting to limit expenses... or find somewhere nearby to hide until the buses come back, lol.

In the past Sears would have cabs lined up, and pay for them... being that the situation is a bit different with the company and 400 people... I don't know if they are offering the same courtesy.
How many people are employed at corporate and if folks can share what "support functions" were targeted and what exactly does "certain positions related to our field operations" mean?
Any more details from that memo welcome.
