Thread regarding Sears layoffs

i wish i had thought of this:

We all got a nice laugh at our daily beat-down, I mean rally, today. When the store manager asked what we would do ti fulfill our commitment to the company for metrics, a great salesman started out like he was very serious.

"I , for one, am tired of letting ill-informed consumers determine our fate. It's disheartening to sell to someone who doesn't understand the value of joining Shop Your Way, or the importance of having and using a 5-3-2-1 Mastercard. Those people are responsible for the metrics crisis we face at this store, and I longer will put up with it. From now on, if they refuse either offer, they are not worthy of owning our merchandise, and I will not sell to them. Since metrics, rather than sales, have become the primary focus of Sears Holdings Corporation, count me on board. Well, at least for the two weeks I have until I go to (a local wholesale supplier). Sorry to break it like this, boss, but you provided the opening."

This guy's sales numbers were always on top. It will be a loss.

Good for him. The Store rallys are fun, though. However, the flatulence from some of the larger (well-fed) employees is a challenge, and those who generously apply Walmart perfume in the workplace may cause unsightly warts.

I know of an associate that only cares about metrics and her lack of sales show for it. She is relentless with SYW, credit and PAs and will talk herself out of a sale if the customer doesn't want a PA.

I've witnessed this several times. She will say that she's "working with a customer that came in before you did" and go take a break, leaving another associate to finish helping the customer. Or, she will tell the customer that they "really need to think about it" right before she rings the sale, of which some customers just leave and go to Lowe's or Home Depot.

Her sales are below goal, yet her SYW, credit and PAs are high. Then she complains about being in draw all of the time...I wonder why?

Obviously that's not the case with you as you are being sarcastic, but sometimes it seems as if this is what Sears management wants. Screw the customer if they don't want to buy into the propaganda.

And, like this associate, Sears' sales are low. They really don't want the business of non-SYW/credit/PA customers, which realistically is the majority.
