Never, never have fired a PhD from Cal Tech, Mit, Uc Berkeley, CMU or stanford there are people who are not touched... we know their Profs, and we need them Manfacturing guys from Tier e school is a another story.

I have.. Several PhD wouldn't do work requiring hands on validation or debugging of process problems.
Many are real estate agents. LOL
Being brilliant or innovative isn't what is required to be successful at Intel. Management here just want mindless yes grunts.
Anyone who brings innovative solutions or challenges the status quo is quickly shown the door.
Intel's reputation is already well known at the tier1, only idoits from tier1 hitch their future to this has been company

Times are different now. Lots of highly educated barbers, cabbies, truck drivers and fast food workers.
I fired an MIT guy - had difficult time working in teams and was self-centered. I laid off two CMU guys, I've seen Stanford people laid off too.
Being brilliant helps with survival, guarantees nothing.
BTW - many of them are just plain douche-bags (source: school / work experience)
