Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The way this company is handling layoffs is awful.

I find it appalling that i found out today on the internet that I will be losing my job in Sept before I was notified or told anything by my job. What horrible greedy leadership. What decent employee not on drugs with more than a 7th grade education would still want to work for this company. I do not have another job yet but my uncle offered to pay me to help him cut grass for 13 bucks per hr cash for the rest of the summer thats 200% more than what Sears paid me. Hopeful I will find something else by the end of the summer. I don't have to tell you all to get out, you already know...

Sears sees no need to provide notice. If Sears did provide employees some advance notice that their job or job title was about to be eliminated, or their Store would (soon) close, ... then absolute chaos would result. Such as: Employee theft, intentional damage to a Sears building, etc.

Do you think an Executioner has ever said " .... Hey, I'm about to chop your head off, but first tell me what you think of my shoes ! "

to the $4.35 mathematician on here, my post did not say it was a 200% raise per hr, i was referring to my total pay/weekly salary being over a 200% raise. I got 22 hrs or less at Sears and will work 38-40 hrs a week with my uncle, so maybe you sir could use some additional education......

The media did likely steal its information from right here. However, the company posted it on the vendor portal yesterday morning, well before it had bothered to make sure all of the affected stores and their employees were notified. Anyone who works for Sears can log into the vendor portal and see that information.

The information was leaked to the media. I don't think company intended for that to happen.

I'm in no way defending the company overall. They treat there people horrible and expect miracles everyday by a very few dedicated staff in their stores.

I know the staff in my store work very hard to a get the lists that are required by corporate.

All the walks and binders that need to be completed daily weekly, and monthly is mind boggling.

And this gap elimination program is a monster of its own.

" my uncle offered to pay me to help him cut grass for 13 bucks per hr cash for the rest of the summer thats 200% more than what Sears paid me."

So you're saying Sears only paid you $4.335 PER HOUR !!!!

Better go back and work on that 7th grade education again

The OP wasn't blaming this site, I don't think. OR being a drama queen. It IS appalling that all the affected employees aren't informed before the public.

Its kind of like knowing the score of a game before you sit down to watch it....dont be a drama queen.

I heard about the store closure on Sunday, before any announcements. I heard about the Kmart closing in my town just this past year, even before any announcements. I heard it from a pharmarcy guy, and he was right.

Don't take it to heart, my store is also on this list. We just found out this morning @10:45am. Sears Holdings contacted the local news stations today, and they were coming into the store and telling outside customers this evening. So if you were off today, you would have seen it on the 10pm news or social media like I did. Stop blaming this site, people are only trying to inform others.

You are right that this is not where you should be finding out this info. Your store manager I would think should have told you. We just found out today too in corporate that there were more store closures. I had to ask around, and I only did so as I overheard someone else talking about it.
