It's real alright! Been already told unofficially to look for redeployment options for my reports. All software teams in SC (potentially JF as well) are going away. Either closing completely or moving to IDC.
@1cjf , there are only approximately 200 employee with Grade 10 and above in Malaysia. And majority of those are IC. Only around 60-70 are in people management role.
Only those in people management role are aware of this upcoming layoff. Next week, we have to inform Malaysia labour department on our intention and also the number of employee expected to be impacted.
It is certain, those that are smart know it is coming!

The message from NEmftwv-vmz is correct. This new round of layoff is based on project cancellation. As of 2 weeks ago, internal hiring is in full effect. People that will be sent to the redeployment pool will have zero chance in finding new jobs. Details to come in tomorrow all hands meeting.
If you've been told to look internally for a job by your direct management, you might be on the chopping block soon!

As mention previously, during top management meeting in Malaysia ( Grade 10 and above ), we were inform not only to cut spending, freeze hiring but also to be prepared for massive layoff between mid June to July.
Also, this round of layoff will not be limited to performance base only, it will include project base also.
