Bear in mind that the objective is to get rid of North American (read experienced, highly-paid) employees by any means necessary so they can be replaced by people who may or may not be able to spell Honeywell.
What fun.

there don't need to be any layoffs because too many people are quitting
The rapid outsourcing is predicated on one assumption - that anyone can do anything. Said another way parts are parts, no difference between a turbine blade and a toothpick. 100% good quality is a given in all the cost analysis that is done. Customers want their parts and want prices to be lower vs higher; but they will not tolerate defects. Currently they are getting defects and thus Hon is on the worst supplier lists of many customers, not the best supplier. Thus, make up a bunch of stuff and try to sell the division, getting to be too hard. No sure many more parts go overseas, but turning manufacturing sites to contract facilities will continue (IMHO).
The next place to exploit will be colonization of the Moon where the Honeywell's of the world will make workers pay for their own oxygen or die (like the recent Dr. Who episode).
Yep! This will continue to happen until there are no "low cost" "emerging markets" left to exploit. What then?
Jobs are headed to low cost countries whether you like it or not. Customers just want the same products with cheaper prices.
Asian countries which are no longer cost competitive have been facing the slash. Singapore, for example; has had their fair share of cuts from high manufacturing costs. Much to the pleasure of their HR who probably brown nosed its way up and will happily lay out the numbers when the time comes to rid jobs.
@BTL, yes I guess technically it's more benefit cuts, RIFs and furloughs in addition to the regularly scheduled ones.
NEfQbak-vhi, don't you mean more RIF's, furloughs, and benefit cuts?
You are correct. HON doesnt care about customers or quality; it's all about money. If you earn a good living, are based in the US and not involved with the power of connected transition, your job is going away. That is a 100% fact. It's been a good run, but the heydays of Honeywell are behind us. All that lays ahead are RIFs, furloughs and benefit cuts.
