Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I for one I'm not looking forward to July based on all comments of big cuts coming to Dell in July.

@NClbacX-yjp -Work and Education does not teach you anything other than brainwash you. If you are able to deduce from balance sheets, earnings report etc you can see. Keep saying Team Player and you will see

Why would a 50k reduction surprise anyone? Take a look at HP (or what's left of it), Cisco, Oracle, IBM, ... all have cut people by a significant amount. You take Dell and EMC - both large companies in their own right and with quite a bit of tech overlap. You also have redundant HR, Legal, Sales, Marketing, and so on. Admin (HR, Legal, ...) is an easy 10k right off the top. R&D will be next because Dell places no value in it. They aren't a tech company, they're a marketing company that sells tech and has good just in time manufacturing processes. Next, EMC has management (mgrs and directors of various flavors). Dell has the same but in a cult, you cull the outsiders. Now add the fact that Dell was looking to reduce its own size before the merger and you have a very large number just begging to get axed.

@NClbacX-1icf - maybe you should realize that Dell is not a team, it's a cult - the cult of Michael. Everything that happens in that company is done to stroke that ego. You may also want to look a the $800+ million that Dell has set aside for layoffs this year. Not a guess, not a speculation. This is straight out of the holding company financials filed with the SEC. The layoffs are coming (and there have been rolling layoffs going on since well before the merger). Dell simply can't afford 150k + people. To make their interest payments in the low margin business that PCs have become, they need to get to < 100k. Math...try it sometime.

Maybe you should read the Bond issuance and what the payments will look like along with market contraction might help you understand why the concern. You are a fixed cost , lets start from there. Let your imagination run wild. Hope you have not used your college education to educate yourself which is worthless from the sound of your post.

July's gonna come even if you don't look forward. You cannot stop time. I am looking forward to July to be laid off. Hope the layoff happens soon and I get extricated from Dell with a good severance package.
