Thread regarding Pearson PLC layoffs

If senior "leadership" really cared about education, then they would have considered keeping the valuable assets like the FT and Penguin...and K-12 would not be in consideration for being sold. Education is more than one or two digital products. As a group, business and economics courses could have had a textbook, MyLab, and FT subscription. Instead we see business schools used the WSJ. Pearson had an opportunity to grow interest and drive digital in multiple brands. Penguin is doing well under Random House. Instead our leaders will cut another profit center and outsource more jobs. The board should realize cutting expenses does not lead to profitability. Maybe they should read some Pearson business case studies.

I am one of those call center customer service representatives showed cut. I have been with Harcourt-now Pearson for 29+ years upper management has no clue, platforms are trash, immediate supervisors are either in a meeting or at the smoking area, no support, no guidance, no leadership. I predict they will sell piece by piece since they are outsourcing and everything else ends up I India where they pay them pennies!

Hopefully they're still giving out severance packages and you get that. Then queue up unemployment after that if needed. Detox for a month, and then refresh your tech skills via online courses etc.

Life is better outside of Pearson, trust me. I was laid off in 2016. I delivered my metrics, steady successful performance reviews while under performers (management pets) were kept. Corporate America at its worst.

Just a game of pathetic favorites rearranging chairs on the titanic.

Fortunately it's not 2008 (Great Recession period) and unemployment is now at a 16? year low.
