Agree. There are some excellent technical teams in EMC Bangalore who have delivered amazing value. However there are teams like Dell Storage in BDC where there productivity is zero. Only some junk PowerPoint and no code.

Really? You guys are so narrow minded with half knowledge and far away from the fact about India Teams that EMC has.

50 Indian Engineers = 1 US Engineer? Really? You probably knew a small group of unperformed team in India and far far away from the reality of recent times. Just a suggestion, before making this kind of sensational sentences, be prepare with your fact to defend it with. I know a half a dozen US engineers who takes 3 month to write 1000 lines of code which can't even pass the sanity.

Indian engineers are not all that cheap. The cost differential is 1:3.

But one US person costs about 50 India personnel, so what if Dell half the quality. The move saves 4/5 the cost and that is all Michael Dell cares about.

Everyone is replaceable as long as there is someone willing to work for a lower wage.

Mike and tucci were early movers into globalized outsourcing model talking advantage of wage inequities of the Third World. It is one is to four. Mike set up the Dell contact centre in India in 2000 which turned out good for the revenue. EMC, Microsoft, Cisco and all others followed suit in 2004 moving their extended engineering teams to Bangalore to help them sustain their older product lines so that the teams in US can focus on their next generation products.

The Indian teams are not as skilled as their American counterparts but that is not required. It is as per design. The server, networking and storage teams in Dell call themselves as an R and D group which Is a big joke. The Dell storage team of which I am quite familiar is a joke of a team. Dell was never a leader in Storage and this team was formed and constituted of people who were discards and underperformers from storage companies like Netapp and EMC. The technical skills are abysmally low compared to their counterparts in EMC Bangalore. It needs to be seen how long this group will survive the merger.

@NBTKobe-zkj - Well said, but I have to admit I had to look up the word serf.

Serf- A person in bondage or servitude.

Servitude-

a. A state of subjection to an owner or master.

b. Lack of personal freedom, as to act as one chooses.

Subjection- Being in a position or in circumstances that place one under the power or authority of another or others.

Slippery Slope Statement. How about saying Dell Management in the interest of so called The Looting Machine Called Capitalism and creating riches for themselves. The Serfs will always be blamed for the lack of growth and not doing their work instead of the so called leaders who glorifying themselves on stage while the crowd claps and give hive fives thinking not thinking what it all means.

The Human Sacrifice , and they care right?
