Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Information appliance

HP was first with the concept of an "information appliance" aka the modern smart phone. Joel Birnbaum as hp-labs director was the last in a long line of brilliant inventors. Carly killed that, and a bunch of other programs. When Meg got here it was all over but cleaning up the mess. We can really thank Carly for the current state of HPE, course, Meg hasn't helped a bit.

All of this mess, the decline, the incompetent management, the layoffs, all of it really goes back to one small body of self-perpetuating people, from Fiorina onwards, and even before: the Board of Directors. There you will find the people that have driven more than one company off a cliff.

I believe Meg and others are only lining their pockets with corruption and trying to destroy the company. I believe they work for other HPE competitors to destroy HPE, while they get rich. Isn't this illegal for them to get away with this. While they make their billions, they lay off people and cut their medical insurance with not even a thought but only to themselves. They will promote each other after each and every lay off. It is disgusting to me and very greedy inhuman low lives. I guess being a millionaire is not good enough they want to be billionaires instead. Enough is Enough. But they lay off first USA worker by AGE and COLOR - if you are white you are out of there. This my recent observations.

Everyone keeps blaming the CEO, but isn't the BoD also responsible? Same BOD for Hurd, Apothekir, and Whitman until the split. Let the thought gestate...

My guess...HPE will be sold off/merged/aquired. The two year provision for not being sold is fast approaching.....the fall I believe. Buckle your seat belt, it's going to be a bumpy night.

I dunno....juss sayin!

NAffOBT-zob (and -spi too), I think you are correct. The Great Unravelling has begun, and it is obvious to all who are looking with any serious degree of perception. HPE is missing an "Oh"... All HOPE is gone!

As evidence, I would point to the near-impossibility, any more, of getting them to pay to patent ANYTHING! HPE invents NOTHING that they care to invest in, any more!

I would say that approach would have worked back in 2015 when you joined on. Even better in 2013 or 2014 when the company still had some life.

It is too late now though IMO. Many good people have left on their own accord (fled) or been laid off. The bright people left are so busy doing the work of the people that left plus their current responsibilities they do not have time to innovate even if they were "allowed" to by some miracle.

Personally I am making escape plans right now. Several offers in the works.

I did not know if I wanted to pull the trigger for sure but the last quarterly results were disgusting. They should be ashamed for missing by that much. The email that goes out to employees always tries to sugar coat the bad news, this time they did not even bother. EPS was supposed to be +20 something cents and instead was -20 something cents. A miss this huge has to mean catastrophic losses in the future.

When I joined at the end of 2015 I was told how all this business was coming and they had to staff up. The one server I worked...then none. Getting assigned to support all servers that were coming towards me...then not...then silence. The Machine? Synergy? Expensive green rectangle. Shown the door last month. I saw there was no business last year. I knew this was coming. Typical upper management. So self confident with all that money, private jets, and caviar parties. Only to prove they have not good way of reading business. No R&D. No creating new products. Just chasing after a concept they hope materializes. Buying companies and moving numbers and employees to try and keep the ledger from exploding. The board and CEO need to all resign. Bring in some talented engineers to the board who have vision. The water has breached several containment walls and she is sinking fast. Maybe some new blood can get the last containment wall sealed and start pumping out sea water.
