The existing Cenovus employees sound pretty pissed at the deal. I don't think I'd want to be going over there and dealing with all of the "Us vs. Them" politics that will be going on.

1low - you get it. One of the very few
Does it really matter? No matter where you go or who you work for there are always some issues.
Fact is those going over have jobs. Even if it is for the next year only. But I doubt that as it sounds like cenovus has a very aggressive drilling plan. Lots of people have lost their jobs in Calgary the last couple years and we have just sent a couple hundred more to join those ranks.
Tuesday some really good people got to walk. Today even more. And Monday more again.
I myself have a family. A mortgage and bills so working right now is awesome. Staying in the energy sector is amazing as the wages are a lot higher than other industries. Even if I only get another year before the end that's a year of good pay and benefits
If you believe any social media or review site like Glassdoor isn't having reviews posted to manage perceptions and overall ratings you're fooling yourself. Any company COPs size is doing that.
Cenovus has committed to selling 73kbbls/d in 2017. There'll be plenty of layoffs there once those deals go through.
How many people is Cenovus going to dump after the divestitures? Bet they sell off conventional piece by piece over the next 2 years.
Actually a lot of people I've talked to are pumped to have the COP folks come over... so I dunno what you're going on about.
I'm surprised at the positive Glassdoor reviews for COP...everyone on this forum thinks it's worse than prison apparently
Ohhh right like COP was welcoming to Burlington people.
Farting into one cushion to farting into another. Its all the same.
well good luck for those CPC employees right now!!!!
Interesting Glassdoor reviews on each company:
CP: 3.7/5, 72% recommend to a friend, 68% approve of the CEO
Cenovus: 2.2/5, 24% recommend to a friend, 19% approve of the CEO
Sounds like a place to park oneself until something better comes along
