2xls (below) sounds like one of the execs...no concept of RIFs impact or the working environment at Seagate. Just likes to rant because he/she/it has nothing else to do
If you are not 60+ wanting a RIF is a pu--y move to get off your lazy a-- and get a job. You get to save face, blame Seagate, people pity you and you might have a few months of vacation. THEN it sets in. No one wants your grumpy old a-- and you can't find a job (if you could you would have already left). Panic starts and as Yoda says “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” Suicide by cop is how I call it. Get some balls, if you hate Seagate leave.
Here's some reasons.
-
Severance package nice parting gift if nearing retirement age.
-
Most people get comfortable need a little shove to move on to a new chapter in life. They know it.
-
Don't like the job, but it pays the bills and nobody likes the process of looking for a new one and change even though they want one.
Because then they can stop worrying about getting laid off. Duh.
I'm hoping too....
Because they will get a severance package.
