Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Hot Wheels Layoffs Overdue

Since Hot Wheels is the only brand in the company to turn a profit, they are clearly overstaffed. In typical Mattel fashion, half the group will be fired to assure a level playing ground across all brands. We all win or lose together! There is no H or W in TEAM. Together Everyone Atrophies More. The nail that stands up will be hammered down!

Your right, it's not Starbucks. Everyone knows the best coffee is at Tim Horton's.

you bumpkins need to quit snogging your relations trying to make toy testers. You guys wouldn't know good coffee if you were boiled in it. Hint: it's not starcracks

It's true. NYC & ES are a waste of space and resources and the combined brain trust couldn't figure out how to turn the cap on a bottle of soda. at least in podunk EA they either have a job or they're h--kers on junk so you know those inbred flannel wearing yokels will work their hardest to succeed. Not that they've done so in a while but the real estate can't be beat!

The HTC WOULD be a waste of talent if there was any there. but there's not. Moving to Buffalo is the way to save a ton of money.

They should close ES and NYC offices and just move everyone to Buffalo. When it comes to real estate, you honestly can't get much more affordable than Buffalo.

That high priced place in NYC is cheaper than the realestate in LA?! C'mon, you can't be that stupid. Besides, each Thomas train makes 20 times more in profit than each Hot Wheels car (yeah, even the licensed ones). Who even cares that we sell 100 million of them a year? We're the low-priced buffoons of the industry.

layoffs have got to be on the way. every article online is about a loss of confidence in mattel as a well performing stock. this is truly sad.

think of how much more profit thomas would bring in if we closed that over priced real estate in ny and brought it to ES? get rid of hot wheels and replace the race cars with a life sized train with a face!

Umm, excuse me entitled millennial - Hot Wheels doesn't make a profit. If you look at the numbers, there are a number of other brands that make money - in fact a lot more! - if you look at total gross margins. And if you just compared core skus of other brands against Hot Wheels basic cars, you'd see that making a few pennies on each car isn't a great business. And if it weren't for the licenses buoying up the brand, you'd be down double digits.
