Intel has brought in Messay Amerga from Qualcomm to head the next generation Intel modem development. There will be a move away from the old architecture to one based on vector processors. Messay is involved in headhunting a crack team from Qualcomm to achieve this. The platform switch will happen in the first 5G release in 2020.

Pumpkin, Infineon almost went bankrupt in its entirety, nothing to do with one division or another. And the whole company stopped investments in order to survive. Nothing to do with 'talents' or 'no talents'.
Sometimes you can be the best swimmer, but you still need some basic luck. Ask the good swimmers on the Titanic.
In general it is good to bring new people in and have a good mix of different experiences, but it should happen at every level, not only at high and medium management level. Further, it is no it fair to say that all are Q rejects. Some obviously are, but some aren't.
However, what is obvious with the newcomers (not only Q newcomers), and I mean the good ones (Murthy included), is that they totally fail to understand the many constraints we have in various aspects like organizations, solutions, and flows - probably because there are much more than they have been ever confronted with. So invariably, they are mostly blind to be able to see the BS and mostly end up to be over-optimistic or even unrealistic in planning and expectations. In addition there is unfortunately some Q arrogance which is hindering to avoid being blindsided.
I fear that this may eventually mean that 1 product generation (or 2) will be broken - rather sooner than later. Hope though this will not be the case.
Another ex-Qualcomm has been hired by Intel, yep I can see Intel becoming the modem leader now with these bunch of losers hired from Qualcomm lol
Doesn't Intel have enough ex-Qualcomm folks already for a while now? Have those ones proved effective? Why bring in more?
@1hbq. I wouldn't call the former Infineon teams in Europe 'talent', Infineon wireless didn't almost go bankrupt without a reason.
Why would anyone come from the leader to a follower? If one was "crack" stay at the leader as top dog!
"Aicha is an industry visionary." LOL. Maybe we should give her some credit for predicting 5G will come after 4G. It actually seems like this gives her a shiny title without responsibility while Intel picks someone better to run iCDG.
