The A10 chip performance is on par with the fastest 2015 MacBook Air or a 2013 MacBook Pro/I5 according to what I've seen. The PC "shell" could have options for extra battery and storage, or extra graphics capability. So on the low end you have a decent MacBook Air, on the high end perhaps a couple year old MacBook Pro for a fraction of the cost for a new one.
The only reason Apple is staying with x86 is that the pricing Intel gives is crazy good if dell or hp only knew how good 😉
Sadly for Intel the last roadmap review by Intel to Apple was a joke and Apple about threw Intel out of the room with the totally uncompelling roadmap. My suspicion is that after that meeting Apple launched a few extra chips that are now being evaluated on TSMC 10nm, well before Canonlake samples get to fruity and icelake is just a wet dream.
Mac OS already is native on both ARM and x86.
Won't there be a huge performance boost because of ARM running MAC OS natively vs. x86 and some layer stack? Or is this no longer an issue.
Apple will blow out the doors with iPhone8.

But agree ARM on 10nm this year and 7nm next year means Apple could/should move all their hardware to ARMy custom.
When they do they will show the world x86 is so yesterday.
ARMy conquest is complete with TSMC and Samsung being the new tow headed Chipzilla.
