Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

If I get hit

If I get hit, I'll try to walk with my head held high. I've done my best, and I know it has nothing to do with my skills. I also want you to know it has been an honor to work with many of you. A lot of people here gave me one more reason to get up when those who supposed to lead us failed us all.

Good luck to us all. Take care, stay strong and keep it classy.

I agree, the company gave me 9 great years so far. This gave me time to gain experience, contacts and training while earning a more then respectable wage and providing myself and my daughter with benefits and lots of time to camp and fish with the family every year.

I'm happy for the time I have had and even though I prey everyday to be spared from the layoffs, if I get layed off, I'll still tell people the same thing that I always have...Enbridge is a great company to work for.

Oil and gas industry will cycle up & down until someone figures out how to get unlimited energy from a few grains of sand.

While O+G workers have been living like fattened calves, taking yearly bonuses and pay raises, the world has quietly been preparing to throw them under the bus.

That day is here and now.

"Sustainable Development" is a global initiative spearheaded by the most powerful entities on the planet, including all nations, the UN, World Bank, and even the Pope. Sustainable Development sets out a new course for the world, and names all their energy sources.

Oil is not one of them. And this is no longer in the distant future, it is the reason this oil crash was orchestrated.

"But...but....there's so much money invested in O+G"

Yes, like the 380 billion the majors just wrote off in Canada? You mean like that kind of money? Did you think the majors were going to alert the world and their worker bees as to the timing of this change by announcing divestment of the industry?

How naive!

No, they would never do that. Hope you enjoyed your coddled, entitled life.

It is now over.

okay I just had visions of people wailing and sobbing and screaming just to make the situation worse. Give them a little drama to make them feel real bad. Now if everyone did that, it would make news headlines. The scenario for the next couple of days isn't funny but if everyone who was let go put on their best 'Oscar worthy' performance, it would be something to remember.

Agreed. You are valuable. Stay classy. Either way it will be a hard day. Not only for those leaving. But those left behind.

This gives hump day a new meaning. Lol. That just popped in my head!

My thought are all over the place.
