For the Company to Survive, Need to Make a Change Now

Typical Friday, no one here. Sitting here bored as usual. Was thinking, now that most of those in their 60's are gone, how do we get those in their 50's out of the way? Taking up space and passing time. Am amazed how little they know or contribute. Would think they would be more knowledgable after all these years. Most are just collecting a paycheck. Need to get them out of management and supervisory positions as they are incapable or unwilling to make proper decisions. Most are technically challenged. This company can not afford to tolerate this for the next 10-15 years. There won't be a company. May as well go home and watch NCAA tournament. Everyone cutting out early as usual.

To the person who wrote this post. They are hoarding their information and not sharing so they can keep their job. If they don't teach you the tricks then you won't perform well and you will make stupid rookie mistakes that cost the company money and then you are out the door. Doesn't take a brain scientist to figure that out. Or maybe those older guys just don't like you so they don't share anything with you. If this post is reflective of your attitude towards them, they have sensed it and have decided not to help you.

Now that COP is an independent the older guys (lifers) aren't sure what to do since for many lifers this is their first downturn they have went through without the downstream side to protect the company. So you are right in a sense with an experience issue in that there is very little independent experience at COP and very few people who know what it takes to survive and make money in bad times as they were used to profits from the downstream side. I came from an independent and no one wanted to hear about how it is done so I left. Too many hard heads. For you younger folks, it is going to be tough as the "experienced" don't really know how to survive a downtown. But technically those guys are sound - probably too good as what you need as a US independent is a bunch of butchers and not many surgeons and COP has way too many of them. They need good PMs and to quit trying to do all the engineering in house. One guy should be able to manage the construction projects for multiple rig lines by using contract engineering companies. That is how the independents do it. Fewer people and outside resources. Good luck to you all!

The arrogance of the millennials at COP is astounding. They actually believe they are special because they won participation trophies as children. They grew up catered to and caudeled and now think they can run it all. The worst thing is COP continues to cater to them. The millennial supervisors at COP are the worst. I have taken craps with higher IQ's and better judgment. I will bet the originator of this thread is some 25'ish guy who is not married, drives an Audi and fancies himself to be so sophisticated. He probably also hangs out with a group of other self-absorbed baby-men watching sports and bad mouthing all the experienced (read older) people at work who go home to their families to spend time helping kids with homework. I have spoken to many millennial aged young women and they can't believe how most guys their age do not even know how to talk to women, other than sending then a text. I would love to watch the originator of this thread. I will bet he crosses his arms frequently and touches his face, which a 50'ish person with experience will tell you, is body language for a self hug and thumb s---ing. Grow up and stop being such a tool.
