I'm sorry to hear when anyone loses their job. But contractors have families to feed as well, and you shouldn't blame downsizing/reorg on them, when the blame falls squarely on the upper management/leadership of the corp. It is historically easier to move forward in a transitional period with contractors, due to the limited liability associated with those contract employees. (Health Insurance, Worker Comp, Retirement, etc.., etc..) Besides, these periods are an opportunity for the corp to rid itself of said liabilities (Complacent/low performing/overpayed employees,) and replace them with cheaper, more efficient employees, with a greater knowledge of new technologies/techniques. Maybe you should pay closer attention to your politicians, to understand who really is hurting the American worker. (Both parties are to blame..) Guess what? It's not the contractor..

Probably upset that we have lost so very many good people all while still maintaining contractors...if there is money for wages then pay your people. At the point for a contractor being with the company for 3,6,9 years well that is not employees fault that is crap management! Shame on any manager that keeps someone strung along for that long knowing full well they are a good hand with out making them an employee. In all fairness though the rule of thumb used to be save employees and cut contract personnel 1st. It us just the right thing to do
