Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The x86 cash cow is dead

The MBLY deal all but confirms this.

It's a sign of flailing management desperately seeking growth outside of the core x86 markets. This huge price implies a much lower return on capital for Intel going forward.

We also saw this with the reduced investments in Oregon and elsewhere for the core CPU development teams opening the door for AMD and others to take share.

We also see increasing costs related to 10nm and beyond, putting further pressure on returns.

Microsoft publically stated that 50% of its data center needs can be met with ARM. They are also pushing an ARM client strategy with full Windows emulation o ARM.

Machine learning in the data center can be served with Nvidia GPUs or custom ASICs (Google TPU)

Android / chrome ARM books are getting pushed by Samsung.

The client is in total free fall with most people getting their compute needs from smartphones and tablets.

Loss of process leadership to the foundries also implies AMD could get a better process than Intel for the first time ever leading to even more erosion.

Intel is in a very dangerous and precarious position. In 5 years this will be a much much smaller company.

You can thank the clueless board and their parade of clowns such as Otellini and BK.

Yup the latest spending spree and debt will enable hiding a bit longer the debacle 10nm cost for another quarter.

By Q3 and Q4 no amount of spin about this and 7nm increased investments will be able to hide the depreciation and costand total lack of 10nm output.

Everyone in TMG knows this secret

Watch the up-coming earnings and the conference calls. If you know Intel you can easily read between the lines and see what is going on. Intel has purchased another incredible distraction that will keep investors hopeful for a time and keep BK & the Board employed at Intel for 12 - 18 more months... However, don't be fooled. Intel with FAB network + FAB 42 and 107K employees will not be resurrected by servers and software in self-driving cars. How many of Intel's existing 107K employees can contribute to Mobileye? The purchased distraction will not contribute enough to save Intel...

Maybe BK is in a Brewster's Millions scheme where he has to spend all of Intel's money and have nothing to show for it.

I'd buy that explanation.

Otherwise, it's just clown shoes as usual 🤡🤡🤡

Fake news guy is getting old.

This is what investors already think.

Wall Street put out notes today slamming Intel for their piss poor capital allocation. They are re-rating their investment return calculations and we are seeing a lower stock price.

This is just the beginning.

They really got snookered on this deal.

It's party time in Haifa though.

Intel is still partying like normal. Favored groups like MIT are still flying everywhere for the smallest reasons to have international meetings. BK is desperate and does not have a grip on things going on within Intel.

Your solid in your thinking. Intel is desperate or they should be scared.
