Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I work at a unionised tech company. The union(s) that my company recognises act like professional adults, so none of the stuff you've made up applies to them or the way that they operate.

I'm salaried, not paid by the word. No "specialism" BS. I moved my own monitor. No paid overtime, but typically the workload is such that overtime isn't required anyway

I do get a decent compensation package and, unlike my former non-unionised employer, they don't hold sudden and unequal layoffs every quarter.

I know when I was an intern at Motorola, I wasn't allowed to move a computer monitor form one office to another that was 5 feet away.

I needed to call the in house moving company, otherwise I was told I was breaking "union rules".

That was all I needed to know about unions.

Apparently the OP has no idea how unions work.

In Bay Area, getting fired in 6 months is nearly impossible for a full time engineer.. If that happened, you wouldn't have to pay back any sign on bonus.

But you wouldn't know anything by sign on bonus, with that drive thru career of yours, @oos....
