I was laid off in September, 45 then 46 now.
Male. I was Accenture at EMC for 12 years and then EMC then Dell 6 years. 18 years total knowing the IT and business very well.
I can say warns act was not followed as we were given 3 days notice and the serve ranch was not 2 months plus years but rather a release payment. Our vacation was also taken away in 2016-2017, as we would not have noticed until terminated.

The second major piece is for investors, there is no way the Dell can be worth 3 times HP as there is no more EMC engineers/IT business guys, they were all let go thru the year’s stemming from 2009 and more so 2016. All leaders are gone.
If GameStop was a loss for hedge funds, Dell is a good short in the business as there is no EMC. Dell would have to rehire real EMC people and get rid of Dell leaders to be able to rebuild. Fake EMC employees/leaders hired 2015 frame or whenever the takeover was happening is a joke.

The Covid savings is false and as much as we employees lost EMC and money, as an investor or consumer you are /will lose more.

63 years old female Hopkinton ..but a different story 1. protected class age discrimination over 40 2. disability discrimination ESRD and the 3. Dell EMC self funded health plan pays nothing violated the Medicare Second Payer Act as the employer refused to pay for dialysis. 4. HIPAA charge pending and retaliation. Hired Kechs LawGroup case being filed with EEOC/Noticce of Intent to Sue with ERISA Self Funded health Plan claims...had to go pay separate Blue Cross Blue Shield policy at Massachusetts because Well at Dell wouldnt pay. Attorneys filed for insurance premiums reimbursement.

Don't be ignorant, Dell took on tremendous debt, layoffs are step one on the pay back plan, Step Two sell of divisions that are redundant and/or don't fit and are a cash play. Next Issue more bonds or even have a go public (again) plan. Final Merger with a competitor.

Got out early, Back to school and have a new career in Health Care.

Good luck all, don't forget to take care of your self and family and don't buy the keep your head down and toe the line and you will be alright, There is no loyalty in Corporate America.

Power. Money. Corruption. Self-preservation. Greed. Truth. Lies. Integrity. Ethics. Just words. Mean anything to you? Sometimes those who wield authority obscure the truth. For some, that large swimming pool, with the marble surround at the holiday villa, a new wine cellar or media room, an additional property or, the latest sports car are more important than the health, education or welfare of our children. Blood money pays for such Execs (oops typo),..excess. The truth will find it's way,... but maybe we should give it a helping hand?

10 Years with EMC

30+ Years in the IT industry. In the months since the merger was complete it became clearer to me that Dell really didn't have the stomach for the Professional Services business (nor could EMC figure out how to associate a Catalog # with PS to sell it). The layoff came as a surprise to me being a multi Excellenc@Dell cash award recipient by servicing customers and account teams alike. What was disgusting to me was the shameful initial attempt to flip me (and my current billing project) to a Partner company. Hold out for the Package.

With all due respect, he SHOULD know what is going on with HIS company. How he should get that knowledge, I cannot say. A mid-size company, much less a company of this size, has to have a system of processes and controls in place because it affects many things, ie, credit rating; ability to obtain lending; compliance with federal regulation just to name a few. The liability potential for an EEOC violation at the class-action level would be VERY material and VERY damaging and I am certain it is important to someone in high-level management - after all, isn't the end-game about putting more money in their pockets and not taking it out?

Even if it is just an "accident" a disproportionate number of older workers are being laid off, it still isn't legal. Companies have systems of controls in place to ensure "accidents" like this do NOT happen and if the controls are effective and adhered to, managers (and anyone else) will not be able to push selfish agendas and violate the law -- intentionally OR unintentionally.

What are all those in-house attorneys doing? I am certain compliance attorneys exist, so where are they? What about HR analysts? I cannot wrap my head around a technology company of this size operating in the midst of massive layoffs without someone at the highest levels at least getting regular updates with regard to the status. If they are not, all I can say is WOW and good luck.

The request is basic.

Age / 45 or older

Gender

Race

Length of service to your company.

Short notes are not bad.

I agree with the posts who say the highest levels at DELL or EMC are not intending to make cuts based on a specific group. Especially since MD is a Male over 50 too.

But I DO believe his managers are stacking the deck and bleeding good experience.

So, let me get this straight...basically, Americans, any color, age or gender, are being pushed out of our once great company for lower-paid, lesser-skilled Indians?

As much as I oppose Trump, wasn't he suppose to put a stop to this anti-American B.S.?

Let me add to the previous post that the two team members, the one in early 30's the other late 20's, were not laid off and were kept to train the indians to take over what we were doing for less pay. Together they had at most 15 years at dell where the rest of the team (18 people) that were laid off had 15 + years each.

Good reviews from start to finish and just received a raise in November. Took the package with a smile and did not look back! The team I was on was pretty much all tenured with 15+ years except for two team members one in early 30's the other late 20's.

Demographics info should have been part of the layoff packet (at least in California).

Someone should just scan it & post it.

But.... There's a pretty big group over 40 and several women and minorities too.

This is not a hostile note. It's a shout out fir help from the top. And it's not a Delk vs. EMC rant. Dell is a great company, EMC folks are getting pushed out by lowed paid Dell folks who want the higher paying EMC jobs. EMC managers aren't protecting their teams because they are afraid of getting labeled as hostile. Loads of the EMC management who would have defended their teams and recognized skill levels either left the company a few years ago or have changed roles to protect themselves. Names of aged and minorities are put at the top of management layoff lists or comp for this same group is affected to try to drive voluntary attrition to keep headcount open for friends or political allies.

EMC's Bill S. is an amazing sales leader but he's at the mercy of folks who are not likely telling him facts about what he should and needs to hear. The only reason several EMC folks have stuck around is because of Bill. - and I'd add Frank H. as a reason to stick around too.

If Bill and Frank leave after the integration is complete- the exodus of remaining EMC talent will follow them.

I doubt Bill S or Frank H are reading a layoff page, but just in case someone is reading who can carry a message back to them-

Please let them know we are struggling. Our valued players are being benched for a new team who is indeed talented but in most cases still too green to harness the entire enterprise. Michael D is entitled to recoup his investment Stop the EMC bleed of layoffs before it gets worse. Inspect the names closely when they are deliver on layoff lists. Recognize the strong history of your players and support us in the field. I'm barely over 40 and worried about my job. I've got too much experience behind me and a bright future ahead of me. I'd like it to be with Dell EMC but like many of my peers over 40 , and for no good reason, nothing can change, I fear that ship has sailed.

Thanks for your time.

High achiever, 8 out of 9 years was over my number. Wasn't into kissing up to my manager who hardly ever came to my district. No big deal I have 3 offers from competing companies and happy to go right back into the customer accounts and tell them about my experience with Dell/EMC.
