Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Did anyone receive a gift after being WFR'd and classified a Retiree?

I never received a retiree gift or a badge, but I'm hearing others did. Any thoughts?

Yeah... I got my "gift". A plastic gold retiree card. Great. Wonderful, HP - thanks!

Not quite a retirement gift but I did take pleasure in sending my 30 year badge clip back along with my pass and Amex card when they WFRd me in October.

There was no mention of my service when they stuck the knife in my chest and absolutely no sentimentality about HP/HPE on my part as a result. Still makes me smile every time I stick 'fake' HP ink catridges in the printer I forgot to return. They cost a fraction of the cost of real ones and do just as average a job.

I requested the gold badge from my boss before my last day. As someone already said, the gold badge is really just a cheap plastic pin, what a disgrace. I did receive an engraved small Chelsea brand mantle clock last month, and I thought this was a pretty nice gift.

Depending exactly on who's info you believe, Meg is slotted to get $40 - $50 million when she is forced to retire, or $90-ish million if / when HPE gets bought out. She will be able to Glorify Herself with whatever (type of "retirement gift") that She can buy with that... Maybe a Senate seat or some such, who knows...

Suggestion: Before you "retire", change your name to Meg Whitman!

PS... "The Boss" told me this:

Poor man wanna be rich,

Rich man wanna be King,

King ain't satisfied

Till he rules everything!

Replying to: Love the Gold Badge (NOT) . I was sent a mantle clock after retirement. The clock fell apart as I was taking it out of the box. Put it back together and it worked fine for a while, then the "brass" trim along the top edge de-laminated from the wood. Will visit a hobby shop and refit the case with real brass.

As for the Gold Badge - it was the same as yours. The old HP retiree badges were nice - like the old HP engraved badges - white and red (Canada) white and blue (US) - but larger with gold finish and your name engraved.

Pretty sure that all of the service anniversary gifts now allow you to select a gift from an assortment similar to the awards site....example, bikes, expresso machines (nice ones), fit bits, jewelry, watches, etc. You also get the badge that corresponds to your length of service....actually, a badge holder.

Yes, I received my clock, actually not bad and my gold badge. I always heard about the gold badge but never saw one. I thought, from what I heard that it looked exactly like the current badge but instead of the green squared outline it would be gold. Well, I got the gold badge and what a shock, I really mean a shock. After getting WFR and 30 years of service my gold badge was a plastic gold name tag with my name on it. similar to a badge you'd see in Target or any department store. The last kicker was a note stating " Congratulations on you retirement and wear you badge in pride" At least if I apply to Target I can save them on the cost of making a badge for me! I wish I could put a picture of the badge on this site, it's hilarious...

Thanks everyone...a friend of mine described a gift she got about 2 months after her exit - valued at over $500, from the HP rewards center, along with a retiree badge. There was no message on the label, just her manager's name was referenced. It sounds like this was his doing and not an HP program. Nice to think there's ONE person left with a heart.

You can apply for your own gold badge on the hp alumni site (www.hpalumni.org). It's just a gold name tag.

Good for you. Don't you hate the backstabbers? Man, you guys hear of karma? They will get theirs.

Actually I got "two for the price of one"; the first one, all of my old buddies from old groups, who I liked and got along with... The "old timers". An enjoyable lunch, talking of old days, seeing those laid off years before me, catching up. But then, the back-stabbers of the NEW group, which I worked for, for 4 years, before getting laid off... The ones who pulled every trick in the book, and then some, to make sure it was ME and not THEM that got laid off... They wanted a going-away lunch, too, perhaps to celebrate their victory! The first, I enjoyed... The second was but a pimple on the butt of apparently "wasted time" at HPE... For lack of a crystal ball, I pulled tons of overtime & blew away un-used vacation time, to try and save my job, but the game-players won, and I lost. But I am enjoying retirement! Stress-free!

I got a going-away lunch that I paid for myself, that I didn't really want to go to, and where none of the bosses attended.
