Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Altice USA CEO Asks Workers to Trust Him Despite Ruthless Cost-Cutting Reputation

At France’s SFR, Drahi made clear he is looking to cut at least 5,000 paid positions, reducing the workforce from 14,700 to 9,000, starting in July. Observers suspect Altice’s reliance on ATS to act as an umbrella technical department for all of Altice’s North American acquisitions guarantees workforce reductions, if only to eliminate redundancy. Altice has already shown a willingness to lay off employees at its Cablevision and Suddenlink call centers.

All that sounds like the typical fantasy you have been peddling but the problem is it does not match Altice's track record across every single business it touches. They are not only flattening the org structure but they are stepping on it. The only part of what you described thats true from Altice are the lofty promises to build XYZ. At this point, they haven't shown they are capable of even accomplishing a fiber build this large. They are a bunch of bankers and wireless guys. This whole thing stinks of an IPO scheme. Who here honestly believes there will be a fiber to the home network from Altice in 5 years? They have not even scratched the surface. Take a look around and you know we are not in a position to roll something like this out. Most of the staff with the knowledge to get this off the ground are being forced out. Why would you take the hostile actions they are taking like forced retirement and benefit reduction if they are shooting for the stars? It sounds like they are trying to do everything on the cheap to cook the books to milk more money out of Optimum in an IPO. Here is another fact. They stated they wanted to do a large fiber build out and they also said they wanted to buy another tele-company. Where do you think the IPO money will go?.....Towards the purchase of another company where the song and dance continues. Promise the moon while milking out every dollar you can. JUST LOOK AT THEIR TRACK RECORD. When they claim they want to be honest. Ask them about SFR, ask them about their record.Force them to explain the difference between what he tells his investors and what they are telling you. You guys have the power, they dont want you exposing to the world any chaos BEFORE the IPO.

You did read it, right? Once ATS is formed and up and running AlticeUSA will not need its own inhouse tech dept. That would be the redundancies they would remove. As explained to everyone, if you remain with AlticeUSA instead of ATS you will eventually be eliminated. You would be the redundancies.

Honestly, everyone needs to take a basic course in business management. If any of you owned this company you would be doing many of the same things. Cablevision became so bloated with middle management that revenues were being affects. By flattening the org (meaning sups to regional vp's) they reduce costs, increasing revenues. Spinning off technical services makes AlticeUSA revenues seem much much high while passing on the expenses. No tech is getting fired. The company is just changing its organization. Change is scary, but it's how you grow. So relax, have a drink, and enjoy the ride. It's going to be a good one.
