I was let go in 2014, I am hearing about smaller RAs happening right now. Whatever happens most of you will be just fine, you've got skills and it does not get much worse than what you have right now.

Do yourself a favor and don't apply at Oracle, Dell, Cisco, Microsoft, HPE and any other traditional technology vendor as they are all laying off. Reading about Oracle on this site and it sounds worse than IBM - imagine that.
Same here, left on my own, 2011 - all is good. Wife is still with IBM. We are both happy, but there is life after IBM...
It will get FAR worse.
You cannot even imagine what is about to happen in 2017.
