AMD Naples 32 core, 64 threads, for under $2k per chip is going to absolutely demolish Intel server marketshare!
Just applied to validation eng in WI. Any job freeze or closures in work? Intel seem to be spiralling.
@1uwb here. DB said that server market is down 15%. She also said several programs have problems and we have missed the delivery targets. Also she said the guy who was in charge of the finances of DCG just quited and he is now with Google.
There might or might not be an announcement. However, layoffs have been happening since early this month. I would expect the pace to pick up in the next week or two
For the sake of the surviving employees, I hope there is no new wave of cuts. And if the PC slump stabilizes and cloud consolidation of the server market slows, it could buy Intel some time. Cutting around the fringes (IDF, Open Stack, etc.), however, won't extend the delay much (if any).
The open question is what can be the next big thing that pulls Intel out of the doldrums, and can it be done in time?
@1aiy- "counter argument" the proof is in the pudding, there hasn't been any layoffs unlike your copy and paste talking points.
No way stock will move much without more layoffs. All the senior management care about is the stock price.
Ready for the next ACT as it can't come soon enough as INTC is a total laggard!
A site which was considered to be closed at the layoffs last year is still hiring.
Does this make sense if there are layoffs activities ongoing???
btw layoffs would help the share price going to $40 :-)
Intel is a joke.
Total amateur hour in the C-suite.
@MYR7E88-1gzq. Give me a layoff readers a counter argument. What strategy or data is out there that I am wrong ?
I think those that are expecting a layoff are correct. Just consider Intel cancelled IDF and Openstack that speak of lack of money. After that just search in Google about the Cisco Intel recall. If the news of a major recall of a Cisco switch probably related with an Intel processor does not convince you we are in troubles take a look at the latest DCG QGS (Available in video at Circuit) . That last must convince you...We are in troubles troubles.
there us layoff activities on hr and finance with site close or group consolidate...
@1gfo- Rufus, if you are asking the obvious, layoffs are immanent, just as though the examples I gave are obvious...class dismissed.
Yeah, and the stick has been "approaching" $37/share for the last five years. Intel has been going sideways in a growing market, dude!
@yrf- you've been copying and pasting that same talking point for over a year now. It is immanent that there will be a sunny day in Hillsboro and a rainy day in Chandler. I cant tell you when, but it will happen. You are a loser troll!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Rising tide lifts all boats even the Titanic.
How is x86 sales, down again!
How is 10nm on schedule or late? Do the math if it ramps like 14, and you know it won't it will be faster because it has too! Lots of chest beating but still no product shopping
You know Samsung and TSMC are already shipping 10nm
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Go indel, stock will hit 50 by end of 2017 when 10nm product shipping.
re: AMD stock: my [sarcasm] [/sarcasm] HTML tags did not render correctly.
But AMD was +2.74% today. Wow, just WOW. more WOW.
When to reach to $40?
Err...layoffs make stocks go up usually....stock market looks to next quarter to 18 months.
Intel will kick Qualcomm in its butt! Go Go Intel !!!
Stock will continue to climb up after earning release. Intel will announce to be first move to 6G, Intel will lead and win next big opportunity.
Tends to run up before earnings sometimes. Of course can go either way after, but good to see!
