Intel is on its third generation of struggling CEO's and missed strategy opportunities. The common thread and co-contributor to these failures is former CFO, former COO and now chairman of the board, Andy Bryant. Whether viewed as 2nd in command or key strategic advisor to Barrett, Otellini and now BK, Mr. Bryant must be as much at fault.
Now it seems he continues to flex his poor influence. When it is determined an outside CFO is preferred, let's move the incumbent administrator (Mr Bryant's selected successor) to become "psuedo COO." Stacy Smith will not bring excellence back to Sales, Manufacturing or Operations! We want to overhaul our broken management and focal practices. So let's give HR to another Mr Bryant Finance confidant. New ideas are not likely to come from a 65 year old, 40 year Intel employee Finance manager.
Mr Bryant is setting the stage for a fourth failed generation of failures. Too bad BOD won't do something - also mostly picked by/with him.
