Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Latest round of layoff across the globe

Several different organizations were impacted within ACS by the layoffs that were communicated on Monday to address the gap of ACS revenues being 7 M below what executives projected. Go figure! They under estimated the impact on revenue (services renewals and new contracts) while being on Chapter 11... and of course the fastest way to adjust margin is by reducing headcount and costs.

Sadly most of those 7M match the bonus our top execs were granted and that could have saved the people butts..

Associates were separated but it is also under consideration to layoff of contractors on the next phase as well. The next reduction plan will be in about 2 weeks after the results for Q2 are finally posted and made official. Based on those, management will decide how many more have to go.

They have already asked managers to gather the possible scenarios and calculate backlog, based on different percentages of people gone: ranging from a few to almost whole teams.

The layoffs will continue until May end hearing. Thats the only way Avaya can defend themselves by showing that they're taking corrective actions to increase profitability. The Avaya executives lied by stating that this is just financial restructuring by converting debt to equity. Then why such massive layoffs are happening???? KK doesn't consider people as assets but liabilities. Its all to keep continue feed the top a ton of money to take this company down. If you are not looking for another job already, take your head out of the sand.

Who is posting regarding hikes and all. No hikes are given yet to people belonging to any ratings. BS. Neither I have heard of any layoffs in BLR R&D. Total BS.

In Bangalore, people with HRC rating got the salary hike letter. How about Pune and other regions. SRC's will get by end of next month. I don't know why is this differentiation but thats what has happened with my team in Bangalore. There are rumours that SRC's might not get anything. Well, no choice but to wait and watch untill end of next month.

In most of the EMEA countries you cannot just let people go, especially with such a short notice. The law does not allow it at all. There must be an agreement with the works councils in each country and the severence package can be huge (in some countries years, yes you read it correctly, years of salaries per employee). So it's easier to fire people outside of Europe if it must be done quickly.

Why do you think emea will be safe? Aren't they the most costly?

Yes,this time it was layoff for services team in US and India. The next one is expected for R&D in US and India. EMEA will be safe.

I stopped looking out for new jobs hoping that our team is already short staffed with no chance of further layoffs . But it seems that per employee profit figures matter more than work and layoffs will continue every month until we come out of chapter 11. Since sales are not high enough, this is required to show increasing per employee profit.

Even people in low cost geographies will not be spared because its about per employee profit share so your location doesn't matter.

And as a proof we saw this in current round of layoff.
