Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

No remote work is being aggressively enforced

I heard people are being "caught" working remotely as recently as this month. (April) HR contacted the manager and the employee for as little as one day of violation

Told not to do it again without notifying both HR and the manager

They must be watching VPN logs and security badge access at doors

We were also told we probably reach our OEF/RIF targets by natural attrition. I did not as if the leader meant by firing for WFH violations as "natural attrition "

It's all just a part of the death of my career by a thousand cuts. If the WFH ban was the only backwards senseless policy I could live with that. Sadly it is not.

Honeywell HR is doing what they are told if they want to keep their jobs. I saw a lot of WFH abuse in my last job. I think if the company makes products then most workers should be at the site. How else do you know what is going on. That said Hon has a part in creating the problem by reorging to this one Honeywell, global vision and just redesigning work at one site to workers at another or having workers in Phoenix report to a boss in Florida.

it's still a topic, because most companies allow it. Honeywell did allow it and rescinded. Which makes it clear to both the small percentage of left-over intelligent employees and most external prospects how asinine this company has become.

Why is WFH even a topic anymore? The company made a decision to stop WFH, the subject is settled case closed. you have the option to keep you job, a lot of people that were RIF'd involuntarily did not have a choice in keeping their job, or the opportunity to come to this forum and spout how productive and valuable they are. Just accept the situation or move on, constantly posting to this forum is not going to change the decision of management.

Good grief, they call millennials nothing but snowflakes. After reading this forum I would have to conclude Honeywell seems to be staffed by nothing but snowflakes.

I know people have abused the wfh option, but I really feel like the majority were not. We are evolving (well, most of us) and are able to be both productive and efficient from our homes. I am a single mom and was very grateful to be able to work from home to be there for my kids when they left for school and got home. My entire HON team was spread out across the globe, with no one on my team at my site. My manager was 50 miles away at another site. I often worked 12-14 hours a day from home, keeping my computer on early and late to accommodate co-workers overseas. I took my work very seriously and excelled at every project. Now, I spend 2 hours a day commuting in and out of the office and dread going in and experiencing everyone's depression and angst over what's going on. I now realize that I am working for a company that hates me. It's very much like being in an abusive relationship. If I get fired for the few times I've had to wfh since the policy changed, it will be difficult at first, but I think ultimately better for me to get out of this abusive situation. Honeywell is plagued by inept leaders and their antiquated perceptions - it is most certainly doomed.

To protect the innocent .... it was a Corporate employee in the northeast United States. Doubt they could do it to employees this way in any other country even though the policy is global

I hear it also happened in Arizona but I don't have direct knowledge of that so that is just rumor

I have not heard of any managerial contact for wfh violations.

As long as u do your job noone really cares.

I think this goes back to like what it was 6 years ago when people worked remotely one or two days a week.

It went out of control in recent years when almost everyone was doing it and abusing it.

For some job functions it does make sense to do wfh and management is fine with that

I know of 3 people this week that turned in they notice, all because of long commutes, 1 was 3 hours each way, there was a closer plant for her but they didn't "have room" for her.

New job, 1 mile from her house, more money and better healthcare...... lesson to us all.
