The severance pay stated you need to subtract 1 week. For example, max is 8 weeks right? if you were notified on 04/10 your last working day would be 04/14. You can only get 7 weeks after that.. How generous can they get with the severance package?? Meg Whitman stands to gain $30 million as a result of the spin merge.

Here they are trying to squeeze every ounce of our labour so they can exploit the so called severance package?

It's happening now. 3 people on my team left last Friday, and I just got a farewell email from another person who was just notified that their last day is this coming Friday.

I dunno, if the dead silence was seriously awkward, that could easily be a sign. I had a very similar interchange with my boss when talking about some upcoming training. His response was measured and... odd. I was gone a week later.

If you aren't looking now already, get on it - no matter whether this was a sign or not. The writing is on the wall for most of the US staff anyway,

@6xtz

If he has been a good manager, I think you're reading into it. Personalities don't change. Ask him informally. He probably busy and forgot you're on vacation.

Good luck!

If they can't reach you, they will be super-annoyed due to all of the effort to update the letter to change to the new date. I have seen this.

@6xtz - if you are up, they will call you that Monday while you are on vacation. I've seen it happen.

I don't know, 6oms. If I am on the list for that week, and he knows it, I wonder if he just forgot that he approved that vacation for me. It would be uncharacteristic for him to be a jerk, as he's been a good manager so far.

Or, maybe I'm misinterpreting that loooonnnng silence.

You manager knows in advance if he put you on the list. He sounds political and a jerk if he plans notify you while on vacation. I have seen it done or right when the employee returns. Someone with a conscience would..

Does anybody know how far in advance the managers know that they have to give a Monday notice to someone?

The reason I ask is because at my staff meeting yesterday, I reminded my manager that I'm out on a planned vacation the first week in May, though I could work that Monday if needed.

Dead. Silence.

Makes me wonder if I'm on the May 1 notification list. If I have to work that week in order to get my severance, I'll take my laptop and sift through emails for a while. I'll just return it to the company full of beach sand.

@3aev, as much as I hate the BS we've been through I tend to agree with you. I've seen dedicated and hardworking people shown the door and deadwood managers stick around kissing butts. Life isn't fair, all I can do is work as hard as I can, demonstrate my value and keep networking. We can't control any of this crap, just deal with it and control what we can.

I quit at the end of last year. The writing had been on the wall for sometime, and I had an opportunity come up that offered me better salary, better benefits, better working conditions, and better future prospects. To say I leapt at the chance would be a massive understatement.

I have friends still in EDS, sorry, HPE, sorry, DXC, whatever they are calling themselves today...I heard that some of those got notified today that they are being let go. These are well qualified people, on revenue producing contracts. Just one more round in a never ending cycle of reductions.

If you aren't looking already, you need to start. It's not a question of IF you will face the axe, it's only a question of when. DXC doesn't care about you, despite the corporate BS they may feed you. Just like when HP moved the EDS pension to HP Inc, even though almost all the EDS people ended up in HPE. Just like the change to 401k benefits, and health benefits, and severance benefits. The leadership will milk the company dry, and then leave with their golden parachutes...customers and employees mean nothing to them beyond the quarterly investors report.

Do yourself a favor, find something else...and never look back.

All Severance is Regionally Based. I encourage everyone to look into their own jurisdictions and Governmental legal definition to Severance under their own labor laws. Its different Globally

So the new Severance Package someone who has been here for 28 years will only get 8 weeks pay.

You left out the best part... "working notice" is apparently now a "benefit"!

In the Company's sole discretion, the Severance Benefit will be provided as working notice, pay in lieu of working notice, or a combination thereof.

An eligible Employee who fails to serve the entire working notice period and who is not released (as noted above) shall not be entitled to any benefits under this Policy.

Can someone please post the DXC WFR document here? I am unable to open it, comes up blank. Tried several times. Also, there are layoffs coming April 10th and 17th.

American workers your day has arrived. Severance whats that? We get the boot. We get holiday after holiday off many times during the year. Government days, Religious days, Birthdays, and more. Employment is open to anyone who can walk. We will welcome you to our great country for us to begin to prosper. Only drawback is government issues, climate issues, quake issues, border disputes and bribery and lack of space for public transportation and services. You will be fine. Opportunities are available. The future is bright.

Thanks @MGBHNhg-1zlv

I was able to find the document in the policy portal. Wow - that is bad. I am HPE and the new amount I would be looking at is 1/2 what I would have got pre merger. Time to motivate. I really do think if you are over 45 and make over 95K you are effed. We gotta get out of here ASAP.

I am at my DXC portal now, when I navigate to policies it makes me link to HPE policy portal and there are only 3 HR policy documents and none are the WFR details. Can you please just tell us what you found? How many weeks pay are we looking at in US?

The DXC severance policy is posted. From the myDXC site, that I'm sure you've all received the link to, find your way to the policies area - then the HR policies. It's called "US Workforce Reduction"

@iwe, COBRA coverage is federal law in the US, they cannot deny your access to purchase it.

Anyone know if the potential Severance Package includes any option for former HPE employees to purchase Cobra Benefits at existing coverage? Some of us may need to do this to cover a potential gap during new job searches....

April 25 is a Tuesday. Will those people be notified around the 19th?

So, the May 5 people would be notified on May 1, and so on?
