Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

One would think with the positive trends of the stock market,

Easing of the Dodd-Frank regulations, pro-US worker agenda we'd have nothing to fear.

Yet, there are no updates news accounts for this massive and impending layoff.

Isn't anyone out there looking out on our behalf?

Can't STT update, advise or inform us if anything has changed in the number?

We can only "assume" it is going forward and we know the old joke when you assume...

Why no follow up by Boston Business Journal, Globe, local media outlets?

Why the silence?

Silence and the vacuum created by it is unfair to those of us that wake up everyday and go to a job we hope we retain at the end of the workday.

Is there anyone higher up with a moral conscience or intestinal fortitude to tell us like it is snd update us?

That's exactly what I've been saying.

It's kind of even more evil though and insidious leaving us hanging wondering, worrying, never knowing when.

My SVP told me that the 7000 would come mostly from attrition - meaning when someone quits they won't replace them. I think they strategically scared people, so they would quit, and SSB wouldn't have to pay severance. Pretty crafty.

Certainly not in retail, they're all closing down too.

All great points @MEpdRHk-lfa and I agree with all points. Why haven't the politicians of power tried to do something about this once this article was published in many publications? Where do they think that these 7,000 laid off State Street workers who are mostly from MA going to find employment?

It's a ruse, if you read the article they plan on cuts and not replacing as part of the number.

I didn't say no cuts but 7000 is a ruse. They got their dead weight they got a few bloated salaries off the ledgers they scared people away by looking and leaving for s new job, but when all is said and done it won't be 7000.

I also said this ship has zero morale and it would be. Best to jump ship and let them be stuck without staff

They created an environment of tremendous stress, low morale, depressing people in the prime of their lives for careers.

They are dubious and our local political leaders don't care either!

The 7000 layoff notice was not a ruse. It was a statement made by a very senior executive of the company during a meeting with Wall Street analysts.

Such an announcement has major financial implications for the company.

A false statement of this magnitude would open the company and its executives to major litigation.

So it's real! Plan and prepare accordingly.

Wake up people!

Biggest con job going on, they scared people out of their jobs and saw the rest were complacent.

There's no 7000 layoff it was a ruse!

Sure some dead weight or unproductive workers were cut, some overweight salrraries were cut out, but there is no 7000 person layoff.

I still think we're all better off jumping this sinking morale ship, but for the low wages, the chronic stress of that impending layoff this is time for us to take control, and leave the uppers, the ones that play this game on good hard working people, holding the bag.

Also looks like E Warren could use some guidance on pay parity (I mean equity)!

Maybe she needs a new officer for diversity too.

All a bunch of hypocrites they care not one ounce about us not one ounce.

We're worth no effort, and when the layoffs happen they'll all point fingers at someone else and a week later go back to their little bubble protected while we flounder, suffer and lose everything we've saved or worked for in our lives.
