Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

How long until COP is completely out of Canada? Your guesses and comments here.

I give the company 2 years max before enough appraisal work is done at Blueberry and oil prices start to climb before they can find a buyer for Surmont. Total is also a complicating factor. Nobody will want nay part of Surmont if they are being deferred and elated by Total. Blueberry will be the carrot to offload Surmont, IMO.

I thought Surmont was losing money even now? Like hundreds of thousands of dollars per day. In a lower for longer world, this is under water. Bluberry sounds like a decent project but it is too little too late. Why stay in Canada?

How long until what little remains of the company is swallowed by a much better run company, with cash, via an unsolicited takeover bid?

You know this how? It's easy to just puke out any name. CNRL...Encana....Disney.

The hard part is ACTUALLY backing that up with some sort of facts.

There is constant reference to how poorly managed Surmont is.. Is this an exaggeration, or is it really that bad? Do you have actual hard facts that prove this?

CNRL/Suncor or Imperial seem like the best fit for Surmont - Total is a non-factor. Industry consensus is it's a top tier reservoir that is poorly managed and over capitalized by CP.
