Have been on the Xcel Energy project since beginning of the year and was supposed to be on it until year end. So I was billable and making money for IBM, yet I get laid off.
What sense does that make???
Also on the 90/30 plan, though I already have an offer from another company so I will not stick around much longer.
1) An algorithm has determined that X number of employees with your "fungible" skills can be eliminated and their tasks allocated to other workers who are not yet completely overwhelmed by work.
2) There is someone in India with the same skills (on paper) willing to do your job half as well for 15% of the money. Hence the "race to the bottom"
Consider trying to get to the end of your 90 days before moving to your new job. That way you keep the perks - 30 days pay and retraining funds (can be used for more than you think). Make IBM pay EVERYTHING they owe you!
