Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Why no managers or executives

Why are no managers or executives let go? They are the ones making the constant decisions on how the reorgs take place, change the comp plans and are doing nothing to motivate employees. These employees make more money then the sellers themselves, can't do the job of the sellers and are just paper pushers. There are managers managing teams of 4-5 or better yet managers managing no one. At least the sellers can bring in the revenue. This place is sinking fast and will continue with the very management heavy company.

Customers refer to the constant turnover as the "Churn" and in my area have no interest in meeting and working with the so-called IBM "sellers" because they change twice a year. They prefer to deal with re-sellers who see the value of long term ( more than six months) relationships.

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. They set up the sales org to fail and then use their "failure" to justify their termination.

That's not true. Execs and managers are absolutely on the chopping block. There are just fewer of them in relation to individual contributors. But in the past two months the large swath of friends and colleagues who have been cut include several first line managers, a few second line managers and a couple of former directors.

Managers (and some Execs )are being let go as well. Just not as noticeable.

They are managing the folks in India ( who replaced the US workers )... Now they are training their replacements, they are just too stupid to notice the IBM pattern... It won't be long until one of the Execs calls all the managers into a room, and says you have 90 days to find another position within IBM...

The Execs just get a kick out of watching folks scramble for employment... There really are no open positions, unless you are an H1B then there are tons of open positions...
