Thread regarding Sears layoffs

A Post For Auto Center RE: Phone Shops

This is a post for everyone involved in SHLD. Yes, Auto is different from FLS. We have our own set of shenanigans going on. Since we can't name names here I will direct my arrow only slightly from it's intended Mark as I am at Laguardia airport and have limited access. I have joined up pebble for the few days and you can learn some things.

One thing that I know is it seems to be a great idea to prank phone call other auto centers asking for tires per upper management directive. There are two metrics that are used which are entirely false because the data set is not accurate. The date set is not accurate because it takes an average of all national Sears Auto Centers. Some Sears Auto Centers are huge and some are small. I am in a small one and I am AACM/ MOD. It is not possible for me to push those sorts of numbers. To be fair, the AC's are broken down by size but still not accurately. Sears Auto Corporate does it like a prorated tire warranty if that makes sense...that is exactly how they do it.

The big metric are Tire and Alignment attachments and the "Big Five", most of which require a great deal of experience. I have one ASE Master and 1.75 express techs(3) who need constant supervision. I have children of my own. Many of you do as well so you know what is involved. My CSA is 21 years old and has two months of experience. The ASM is lost in paperwork. I have to run the operation. Some days, people need a day off, or the schedule doesn't work right and I am alone to run the front of house. I am MOD.

The phone rings while have two customers there and one on hold already and it is phone shop from another store asking for some tire that comes in the Patriot sizes offer. Can you hold? I know it is phone shop. I get potential real business taken care of. Of course they hang up because they have phone calls too. How dumb is this?

The thing is that the fatness and laziness of the Marks on the runway at Laguardia are obtuse. I digress. I sold two sets of Michelin Defenders 18" and 19" and one set of 16" Goodyears yesterday and was phone shopped twice. STOP CALLING ME while I am the middle of a sale. Anyone in auto knows that 18" and 19" in Michelins w/align, performance is a big sale even with B3G1.

Stop calling me please. From now on, the code phrase is "I'm just phone shopping you because Sears gave me a quote". Fill out the silly paperwork and send it to your DSM. If I have to phone shop any of you, I will just call and ask your name and tell you it is a phone shop. I will ask you what piece of junk is on your shop right now and does it need tires? Does it need brakes? It probably needs a coolant flush. Then I am going to let you go.

I have one master tech and three zeros. Don't phone shop me please and especially so if I am out doing a battery install as a AACM. How am I supposed to answer fake phone calls, read my emails/pebbles, keep the kids in line, deal with angry "FIX MY CAR NOW" members and actually do anything?

You know what I am saying if you are auto.

It's what the leadership calls a "Smart Plan"! Same plan that drove the ability to complete work in the shops nearly impossible.

I feel for you auto center people. From what I can tell it's a bad scene over there.
